Returning to Full Time Work - Still Breastfeeding

Hey Mamas, I'm the proud mother to a sweet 7 month old little girl who is 80% breastfed. She sometimes has the odd bottle of formula at night time when I'm home, and is given formula when I'm at work. Which has been 2-3 days a week (but mostly nights). I've just received a promotion which means I'm going to full time work, which is spread between day shifts and night shifts. As much as I didn't want to stop breastfeeding just yet, it's impractical for me to be pumping at work. I did it for months a little while ago and it is such a...

Medela Bottles Your Experience.

Hi Ladies! I am buying a Medela breast pump and want to buy the bottles to match. The Medela bottles are pretty much the most expensive ones I will ever buy, but they seem kinda flimsy. Do you have experience with them? The plastic seems pretty thin. I wonder how they hold up in the dishwasher and over time. Any experience is greatly appreciated.

Need Advice About Breast Feeding

I have a 2 1/2 month old daughter that I've been breastfeeding since birth. I'm going on a trip for 10 days and was planning on just having her bottle fed for the 10 days and then continue with the breast feeding when I get back. Is this a possibility? I had a really hard time getting her to take the bottle at least once a day so she can get used to it before my trip, but now she is and totally refuses my breast. I'm very confused and wonder why... My doctor said she has Thrush and it hurts her...Now I'm at a loss and don't know if I'm...

Medela Quick Steam Bags Question

Hi, moms. So I just bought the Medela quick steam clean bags. You are supposed to be able to clean bottles, pacifiers, some pump parts, etc. in the microwave with these bags. I'm confused though...when I opened the package, the directions say to wash parts in warm soapy water and THEN microwave. If I'm supposed to wash everything, then why would I also microwave them?? I thought these were supposed to clean the parts if you are on the go without hot water and dish soap or are in a hurry and need to clean several parts quickly? Has...

Schedule for Breastfeeding?

EDIT AFTER READING SOME RESPONSES: My baby WILL NOT take a bottle/sippy cup/etc. Absolutely WILL NOT. I have tried - believe me. Also - he was eating 5 jars a day when he was 6 mos old - but he had to stay in the hospital for 6 days and didnt feel like eating solids. After that stay - he went down to two jars a day and just will not eat anymore. It is a fight to get him to eat the two jars! I am afraid to give him anything like puffs because he wont eat anything with texture and everytime i try puffs, etc. he chokes because he...

Avent vs Medela

Hello ladies! We just had out second child and are ecstatic! Without first we weren't able to nurse and did formula but this time we are breast feeding and things are going great! Unfortunately I will have to go back to work so I've started pumping and storing. I'm very committed toonly using breastmilk this time and plan on nursing when home. Does anyone know which are better bottles/nipples that will not interfere too much with nursing? I've done some online research which said avent newborn nipples or the medela nipples are best for...

Medela Freestyle Pump

I am researching breast pumps and recently heard about Medela's new hands-free Freestyle pump. The reviews I have found have been very positive, but there are few out there since it is so new. I will be going back to work full time so definitely will need a double electric pump. Besides the Medela Freestyle, I am also considering the Medela Pump in Style Advanced and the Ameda Purely Yours. Does any one have the Medela Freestyle? Any other advice on the other options I am considering? Thanks so much!

Did You Get Help from a Lactation Consultant?

So I'm thinking of making an appointment with a lactation consultant. But it is $75 bucks. Anyone use one? Is it worth it? I have low milk supply and my freezer milk supply is running out! My left breast is twice the size as my right but when I pump the last two weeks, I"m lucky if I get one ounce out of it. It seems like my baby is getting enough so it may just be a pumping problem. But for the first 5 months I pumped no problem, and got 4-6 ounces. He started solid foods, so I know that may be a factor. But I also noticed that I am...

Used Medela Pump in Style

Would you buy a Medela Pump In Style that was very gently used (only used a few times a month), that is 8 years old? The owner reports it to be in excellent working condition, with some parts still in sealed bags... She wants only $65. My main concern is that it's 8 years old... I will replace all the personal parts, but I'm just a little leary about buying a pump that's 8 years old... but from what I understand, the Medelas hold up wonderfully. What do you think?

Quiting Breast Feeding

I was just wondering if there was anything special I needed to do to quit breastfeeding. My daughter is 6 1/2 months old and I have struggled from day one to pump enough breast milk for her. I have tried everything, I drink 80-120 ounces of water each day (also because I am prone to kidney stones), I eat very healthfully, I pump 3-4 times a day, and I have been on Reglan for 3 months now and can only pump roughly 3 ounces a day using a Medela Pump In Style breast pump. I have been supplementing with formula since she was 2 ½ months...
