Yes, it depends on which kind you use (1 day, 3 day, and so on), but I usually buy the Monistat 1 that you can use anytime, but right before bed is best, and it clears up in about 3 days for me! Hope this helps, I know those are MISERABLE!
I am pretty sure I have a yeast infection, but I cant afford to go to the dr right now. Do the at home treatments work, and how long do they take? THanks in advance.
Thank you all for your responses. I didnt go to the dr, but the at home treatment did work wonders!

There is an OTC test you can take to determine if it is a yeast infection. I've never used it, but I've seen the commercials for it. I've used Monistat in the past when I've had yeast infections. It's very messy, so be prepared for that. Yeast infections are no fun! Hopefully you'll get relief soon.
if it is a yeast infection..... it could go away on it's own BUT i know how annoying it could be..... yes the over the counter are the same as at the dr's. i worked for an ob-gyn office for 5 yrs. also, eat yougert....believe me, the lactobasillis(sp?) in youngertwill help the yeasties go away fast. hope you feel better soon
I've always had success with otc treatments. However, if this is your first yeast infection you should consult a doctor to confirm - if you've had them before then go ahead and treat it as you have in the past. Keep using the cream that comes with them for several days after your symptoms clear up or it will probably just return a few days later. I wouldn't expect complete relief any faster than a week, no matter what the package says.
Over the counter will work just fine. My doctor even has reccomended it.
Monistat 3 day treatment does wonders. Within one day (don't stop or it will come back right away) the itching pain will be almost nothing. USE IT AT NIGHT, so it doesn't leak out of you. You'll think it is the greatest thing on earth. It might be a good idea to wear a light pad/liner, as even in the morning it may leak out some.
With that, and I think you can buy it separate also, is often a little tube of external vaginal cream for yeast, and it helps too.
It isn't very fast acting, but eat yogurt!!!!!!!!!!! and try cranberry juice.
I went through a 2 yr. period where I had yeast infections more often than not, and if I kept up with eating a lot of yogurt and drinking cranberry juice, it helped.
If your yeast infection is really bad, your doctor may also give your husband a pill to take for about 5-7 days. It is best if you don't have intercourse while you have a yeast infection. That will only spread it more, and be harder to get rid of.
Oh boy do I undertand the strains of not being able to pay the Dr bills :( I would call my OB/GYN and talk to his/her nurse. Tell them what is going on and that you don't have the money for a Dr visit. My OB/GYN would just call in a RX for me. Hope that helps
