Where to Have Boy Bday Party

I would like to have a birthday party for my son with friends from school. I would prefer to do it somewhere other than my home but not sure where. No Chuck E Cheese's in our town or even close. The museum is priced ridiculously. Our McDonalds isn't big enough and someone just had roller skating and the bowling alley. He is going to be six. Any good ideas? I don't want to do it at the park in case of the weather.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Maybe we could take them to a movie. Sometimes the parents stay with so I don't know how that would go over and buying drinks and food.

no bounce house place or arcade? Then just rent a room and have buz light year or some starwars character show up. Not a clown. Some kids are really scared of clowns. We went to a movie party once and the invitation said it paid for one kid and parent only. But my daughter was a little older not 6.

Do you have any large arcades in your area or close by? That is always fun.

Or a place that has small rock climbing, or obstacle courses, or something active and fun.

Isn't there a Chucky E. Cheese in Brookfield?

I don't see having a party where someone just had one. They LOVE going to places they normally don't get to go to very often but then again I've been known see the same singer five nights in a row!

We did a movie and then ice-cream with our son when he turned 5. He got to pick 3 friends to take. The boys had a blast and it was very reasonable.

Here's what I could think of- we still do parties at home since my son is still young so I've only attended parties places, not hosted them...a zoo or animal park/petting zoo, a pottery painting place (they always have plenty of boy things to paint), batting cages, movie, bounce house place (we have several indoor places nearby where I live), Ice cream parlor to make sundaes, swimming pool or splash pad nearby, teddy bear building place like build-a-bear, movies, mini-golf, art studio/Michaels/Hobby Lobby/etc, somewhere they could do volunteer work, karate /martial arts class...

Check out your local park district. I rented a gym for my son's party, and we played capture the flag, steal the bacon and dodgeball. We also were able to bring in our own snacks & cake. It was easy, inexpensive and fun!

Do you have one of those farms that hosts festivals and does activities? A friend did her son's at one - they had a petting zoo, straw maze, pumpkin picking (it was fall). This time of year they do blueberry picking, petting zoo and some other outdoor things.

We just did DS's (5-1/2) party at our house this weekend (pool party). Our backup rain plan (as long as there was no lightning) was to send them outside in the rain to run through the sprinkler and play outside and then do a painting project under out porch overhang. (we truly had no backup for a thunderstorm - 16 kids in the house would have been fun)

Skating? Indoor sports place? Gymnastics place? Is there a cool factory you could 'tour'? Pool party? What about a volunteer firehouse?

Hi Melanie,
How about at a miniature golf place? (We have indoors ones around here in IL. And the balls glow in the dark. I like some of the outside ones... so pretty with waterfalls, etc...Sounds like a great age for it! If you have a couple of adults helping you and the number of boys is not too high to supervise, you could add in the invitations that the parents are welcome to drop off their boys and come back at the time the party is over. (Maybe ask them to come back 10 or 15 minutes before the party is actually over so in case they run late with pick up. (This is about the age that my kids were dropped off for parties.... with a few of the mom's friends staying to help out.) Here's a link for a lot of things to do in Milwaukee, WI that should keep the boys entertained: http://www.onmilwaukee.com/family/articles/100kids.html

Are there any Pump It Ups or Monkey Joes in your area? My son had his 6 yr. old party at a pet store. It was for 2.5 hrs. (1 hr. in the party room- a long time just to eat.... so I played games with them and gave prizes.) 1 hr. in the party room where the workers brought animals into the party room for the kids to pet. lizzards, snakes, rabbits, dogs, cats, ferrets, etc... The price was $150. Oh.. and a tour of the aquarium side of the store. That last for approx. 30 min. The boys LOVED everything.
Oh... boys like sports parties too. Check out a health club and see if they do parties like this. Around me, YMCA and Lifetime Fitness do this. LF even has a rock wall and my son loved this!
Good luck and have fun!
