Where to Buy a Window Unit A/C

Ok, it's stupid hot and I need a window unit to supplement my woefully inadequate A/C. I have searched online at WalMart, Sam's, Costco, Lowe's, and Home Depot. They are all out of stock. Some places have the $500 ones in stock. I just want the $100 one. If I don't find one soon, I'll probably do site to store shipping with WalMart. That would mean waiting some hot days for it. I want one today. What stores am I overlooking? Who else has small air conditioners?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I've looked online with no luck at any of these stores. I usually start at Craigslist, but this time, I just knew there were no used ones left so I started backwards. Turns out there are several on craigslist! and none inthe stores. Doh! Craigslist it is!

Yeah usually homedepot is the best bet. I'm sorry they are out I guess with us into hurricane season they are gobbling them up. I'd research those a/c's online and see which manufacturers and where. If your a/c is not working well I have to ask. When was the last time you had it cleaned out. They back up and need cleaned out like everything else. And actually you'd call a plumber to clean out your line not a a/c person. though the a/c person can clean you coils etc.

We've ordered site to store from Walmart several times & even though it said it'd be delivered in about 2 wks, we got our orders in like 2 days. Our thoughts are that if a store has it in stock, you might be getting it quicker. It's always worth a try or just ck w/surrounding stores & just see if they have it in stock, you can do that either online or call or even in person. Have you tried Target or KMart if you have a KMart? What about Ace Hardware or Tru Value? Sears? Try doing a general websearch for just window unit air conditioners & see what you come up with. I know it's brutal, this heat! Our landlady is so strict, we can't use our window units during the heat of the day unless we pay her extra on top of rent! so we hafta run them COLD all night just to have a comfortable temp in the day. Hope this helps, good luck!

I picked up one at Walmart a couple of years ago for about $140. It still runs and we really use it in the summer for our family room.
You need to probably store shop. :(

You could google HVAC supply in your town. Around here it would be Slakey Brothers, Johnstone Supply, etc. They may have some in stock since they are specialty suppliers. Good luck, and i hope you cool off soon!

You have tried all my suggestions for new ones, except Montgomery Wards and Sears. Try craig's list or pawn shops.

Good luck to you and yours.

Check Craigslist? You might be able to pick up a used one..... they will be scarce this time of year, though. We just sold two at our church rummage sale here in central Texas, almost instantly.
