Lisa - there are Thur night concerts in the Rochester Municipal Park - usually at least one is kid oriented but I haven't seen the line up for the year. They are free.
The Village Mall at Adams and Squirrel Roads has concerts - free and usually any music is great for kids. The Auburn Hills Civic Center has concerts off of Adams in the evenings also and they do Lunch concerts in the Riverside Park in downtown Auburn Hills - all free. The zoo does concerts but you have to pay admission obviously unless you have a membership. The Rochester Library has the Candy Band performing outside in the evening this month also. There is music all around and pretty close by. Good Luck

there are so many wonderful things to do this summer. The Detroit Festival of the Arts this weekend with a whole kids area, Detroit Taste Fest around the 4th of July also usually has a kids area. And then there's the Concert of Colors the in July that is a really kid friendly event. World Class music and free!!!

The zoo does have free concerts if you have a membership. If not, you'll have to pay to get into the zoo. Check their website for dates and times.

Royal Oak has free concerts by the library (just south and east of 11 & Main Street).
Birmingham also has free concerts that are held in the center of town (I believe the park is called Shain Park). Again, check the websites for the cities for the dates and times.

I live in Huntington Woods. Our concerts are on Tuesdays at 7:15 starting on June 17. They are at Scotia Park off of Scotia between Lincoln and Vernon.

The concerts are a fun thing to do with kids.

Auburn Hills has concerts most Friday lunchtimes at the park. Whilst not specifically for kids they have a good selection - jazz, rock and roll, classics etc and there are always kids there dancing along. Added bonus is that the park has a play set right next to the band area , lots of trees for shade and a river to play in too! Look at the Auburn hills website for details....Rochester Hills has kids entertainment at Van Hoosen Farm and a slip and slide most Fridays - again just check on their website for specific dates and times.
All the above are FREE!!!

The zoo concerts are great for kids. They have them near the front on a rolling lawn. Bring a blanket, etc.
