My daughter takes her little one 3 and 1/2 to Holly Mi library. She is the youngest of 9 and my daughter swears by it.

I haven;t tried it yet, but the Birmigham Library (Baldwin)has a new Mother Goose time on Thursdays at 10 or 11 for 1.5 to 2.5 year old and an adult. You are supposed to register but its free. They have a lot going on there and we are just getting rady to check it out with our 20 month old. Check out http://www.metronet.lib.mi.us/BALD/

I love the story time at Auburn Hills - they have different programs depending on age during the day and a storytime plus program 2x per month on Saturday PM as well as a summer program and regular craft days. If you live in Auburn hills or your kid goes/will go to Avondale schools (which covers part of Troy) then you can enroll any time. If you do not meet that criteria I think you can enroll if there is space - usually not a problem at all. Not as stressful as Rochester Library time which I always found to be wierdly competitive and lots of different librarians make the stuff they do great. They also run play and parenting workshops.
Note the youth section of the library is being updated this week so is not open to the public but they should be able to answer phones for queries and reopen next week with all new stuff!!
Hope that helps!

Rochester Hills has a great story hour program. There are several age specific programs during the week (you have to register for those, and I'm not sure if you have to be a resident-- you do have to have a library card) and about once a month on Saturdays they have a birth to 5 story hour. Barnes and Nobles and Borders also have story hours, I can't remember which but I think it is Wed nights at 7 and Saturday's at 10 or 11 am.

I always go to the Sterling Heights Library. They have 2 different age group programs. Plus they always have other things like crafts and movies. The childrens area also has toys and things for your little one to play with. Good Luck.

We were very happy with the Rochester Hills LIbrary, or the Lake Orion Library. Both story times were very kid friendly and handled professionally. Both libraries have GREAT children's areas with much to do:)

You might want to look into the Rochester Hills Library. It's not too far from Troy. Located in downtown Rochester, 500 Olde Towne Road.

Hi Lisa,

We have a wonderful librarian that comes in once a month, to do storytime for our Mom's group. You can read more about the Moms & Tots program at www.oakarbor.org/community/momstots.html. You're welcome to stop by on a storytime day, or any time!

I really like the Royal Oak Library's children's services. The librarian who reads the lapsit stories is great with the kids and they have a nice play area there too for something to do afterwards.

Oh no! I just signed up for story time at the Troy library! I did notice this morning when my son used a puppet to wave hi to one of the librarians there, she looked at him like he was from another planet...

Not knowing where you live?? The Macomb/Clinton Library is fantastic!
My son loves it there, and not just for story time, there is a lot more to do there.
Plus they have different events like with Rosco the Clown that have been a huge hit!
Hope this helps,
