We feature all of these ideas in our weekly newsletter (some are online, too). Although most will be too far for you, they may inspire you to contact your local rec center, pool, or business...
Mommy & Me Swim Time at Flower Mound CAC
Storytime at libraries and bookstores
Little Gym, Gymboree, etc.
Gaylord Texas (you and your hubby can walk around and enjoy the sites. They have Summerfest going on right now, but their Christmas display is also very cool). They have a winding river inside, mini-vineyard outside, miniature trains, etc.
I would strongly suggest finding a support group like MOMS Club, MOPS, etc. We've featured a few in recent issues, but I'm sure they have chapters in Denton. They organize lots of local activities together (trips to the zoo, different playgrounds, playgroups, walking groups, babysitting coops, couples night, ladies night, etc.) There really is something for everyone, and most of the MOMS Club chapters in our area are $30 per year dues. They literally opened a whole new world to me when my first child was about 6 months old. Moms of some of the toddlers and preschoolers offer great advice for local activities and resources to the moms of babies.
Good luck!
