I'm interested in meeting moms in my area (especially with newborns or newborns on the way) to share advice and inspiration as well as just getting out and socializing.

If you have some time, check out www.BurbMom.net. There are 35 local mom writers that contribute and most of us live in/near your area...one of the reasons we started Burb Mom was to share experiences and take a fun look at the positive things about being a mom. Congratulations - I have been a SAHM for 8 years now and wouldn't trade it for anything. At times it is frighteningly overwhelming but so extremely rewarding.

I was a member of MOMS Club when the kids were younger and loved it. Similar groups include MOPS, Early Childhood PTA, and Mothers and More. MeetUp groups like the one mentioned above are also very popular now... and a great way to differentiate if you're looking for other working parents versus stay-at-home.
Finally, if you have a neighborhood HOA or women's club, I would ask them if they have a local group for parents, moms, etc.

I belong to a mama's group that has members in Denton, Corinth, Lewisville, FlowerMound and Coppell. It along with a 2007 moms group have been a very good experience for me. I hope you will check it out.

I'm in MOMS Club Denton NE. There is another Denton chapter that covers the more southern parts of Denton and I think Corinth. If you go to momsclub.org you should be able to find it. I love being in this group. We do tons of activities all month long and my playgroup meets almost every week.
I would look at www.meetup.com, and do a search for a "moms" group using your zip code. There should be something there!

Congratulations on your upcoming arrival! There are three chapters of MOMS Club in Corinth. MOMS Club is an international organization that offers support for stay-at-home and work-at-home moms with weekly playgroups, field trips, a monthly MOMS Night Out, a monthly meeting, and a host of other activities. Even with a newborn, a playgroup is very helpful for the new mom who can connect with other moms for a social connection and who are going through the same stages with their children.
