When it's hot the rules are out the door.
Sunday best (perhaps dress shorts for a boy and cute summer dress for a girl) should be MORE than acceptable.
The girl is the show anyway so let her be sweaty and uncomfortable.
My 4 and 5 yr olds are going with thier babysitter to a graduation party in a ballroom and then to a 15. They told me to dress the kids very nice. When my friend goes to a 15, she goes all out on her dress and her kids clothes, spending a ton of money and never wearing the same dress twice. I am in no way trying to go that route. But, I don't want my kids to embarass Ms Rosa. They will be a reflection on her and she's an older, very traditional Mexican woman. So, by dress them very nice, what should I do? Button down shirt and slacks, or since it's 100 degrees will a short sleeve collared polo and slacks work? For my little girl, will a summer dress and sandals work? Or does it need to be a more formal, stiffer dress with church shoes? I guess I'm picturing Sunday Best, which I have, vs Wedding Attire, which I don't have.
Ms Rosa doesn't speak English. I don't speak Spanish, so, I can't ask her. Her daughter is the friend of mine that dresses so well.

Sunday best is fine. Since it is so hot I would want comfortable cloths. Slacks and a button down shirt or even a polo shirt and a cute dress for your girl. Just iron what you have and fix their hair and I am sure they'll look adorable.
Tray- We go to quinciniera's a LOT in my family....as well as other fiesta's. Since it's b;azing hot where you live I would say that nice, cool slacks (or even shorts!) with a nice short sleeve dress shirt would be fine. A summer dress would be lovely on your daughter with sandals. I have found, when going to these parties that you will see little kids over dressed and under dressed. Don't stress about it.....you don't want your kids to pass out cuz they are so hot either!

I say that a Quincinera is like going to a wedding. The birthday girl is dressed up and the family has spent a lot of money on the party. So whatever you would wear and your children would wear if you were attending a wedding would be fine. Although if you just do Sunday best for your kids I think that would be fine too. Nice dress and nice sandals and dress pants/shorts for the boys. People tend to be more lenient on kids anyways. Since you say you don't have a lot of money to spend.
The type of clothes people tend to wear for holiday photos. So it's like you were saying, more formal. I assume the Quinceañera will be inside so your kids shouldn't get overheated. Go to Target or Wal-Mart, they have those dress up formal clothes at really low prices. I know Target, Macy's and Kohl's all have really good (CHEAP!) clearance sales right now where I shop.
If it makes any difference, I am Hispanic, Mexican American.
They should dress as though they are attending a fancy wedding. Button Down shirt and slacks. This is a good time to dress your daughter in a stiffer dress and sandals.
Because of where you live they should be fine in everything you describe and also since we hope all of the buildings have air conditioning, that will also help. you describe,.
I've been to Quinceaneras Put them in the nicest clothes they own, slacks or kakhis for your son, with a nice short sleeve shirt and a nice dress for your daughter
Well, I married into a Spanish family and little boys are traditionally in slacks/button down w/a tie and sometimes a full suit despite the weather. THe little girls are definitely dolled up "stiffer" as you say. To keep with tradition you may have to spend a little money. I suggest hitting a second hand store to save since your kids may not wear those type outfits again before they outgrow them:)
They should go in their most formal Sunday best, say Easter sunday wear.
I would ask Ms. Rosa.
I found this website that has some info on it. I know these are very formal events, although I've never attended one. I know a few people who have had them, and the girl who's being celebrated generally wears a VERY formal ballgown-type dress (often looks like a wedding dress). Hope the website helps!
