Celebrated 10 years last month!
New Years Eve 1988 9am. 9am because that was the only appointment left!!
We showed up across the border to SC from NC and the town drunk ( reminder of Mayberry RFD) escorted us as to where to go, like we didn't know, lol
I had a simple Sunday dress, he was in nice slacks and shirt.
No one knew we were doing this. The next day, families called to say Happy New Year! We said Happy New Year. Only when we were asked what we did , wr said we got married. Shocked the he$$ out of my mom!
Yes was a rebellious one and I did not want a big shindig with spotlight on me. Disappointed my mom because she didn't have her wedding though.
No regrets.
I would of done anything for a courthouse wedding, but my mom wouldn't have any part of it. It's funny that I had the full wedding with tuxes and a big white gown. But if I had my courthouse wedding, I would of been in jeans and a nice white shirt. When my sister got married in the courthouse she wore a nice white dress suit, and he wore dockers and a jacket, no tie.
My fiance had enlisted in the army through a delayed entry program, and 10 days before he was schedule to leave for training, we decided to go to the courthouse. We had gone down to schedule a time and to get our marriage license. The plan was to get the license and then to go back later that week for a small ceremony with our parents and best friends, but when we got there we were told that it took 10 days to get the certificate which my husband needed to bring with him to include me as his dependent. We were going to give up on the idea when we were told at 8:20 am that there was a cancellation for that day. We said sure and asked what time... turns out we were married withing 20 minutes!!! We were not expecting to get married that day, and had no time to prepare, so my husband was wearing a wrinkled t-shirt and although I had on a nice blouse, I was wearing grungy flip flops!
Me: Maternity jeans and a blouse Hubby: Sweats and a T shirt We got done just in time to pick our oldest up from the school bustop.
My parents were married in the court house on Jersey in the Channel Islands off the coast of France. My mother wore a white crocheted mini dress that her mother had made and sent over from Australia. I have no idea what my father wore. There were no photos, and I have not met anyone else who was present. I still suspect they aren't actually married! They did have their reception (for four people) at a 13th century pub, eating Jersey Hot Pot out of an ancient cauldron hung over the open fire.

Hopefully you can view :)
We were living in Amsterdam and I was 7 months pregnant. They don't overdo weddings there like they do here, thank goodness. I wore a short off white dress with a veil-type neck and heels, husband wore dress pants, tie and jacket. We had our reception at a golf course with about 45 people. Twas nice! :)
I had bought this cute cream colored and black dress on clearance and my hubby wore black slacks with a button up shirt. Nothing too fancy. I had my daughter wear one of her dresses and both our mothers wore dresses. Like I said, nothing fancy. I would have been happy wearing jeans, but my MIL insisted I wear a dress :)
We both wore slacks, I wore a blouse and he wore a button down shirt. Very simple, just like the wedding!
I wore a white suit and he wore a nice suit a shirt and a tie. We had flowers and twelve friends with us. Then we went to a lovely restaurant.
I did have a courthouse wedding and it was fast and to the point. I always dreamed of a big beautiful wedding but no money to spare! We actually did it after work (romantic huh?) So I had on slacks and high heels! My husband had on jeans and his polo boots. You can wear a dress and have anyone you want there. We got married on a weekday and had a party on the weekend. You can make it as glam as you want but we had like a 30 minute time limit!
i got a white dress at a bargain store, it was a long white halter style dress but nothing too formal, he wore slacks, a dress shirt & tie
ha ha, great question. We were engaged when i got pregnant, we spent the better part of 9 months planning a wedding only to decide to fill our place with furniture instead. On my wedding day(9 months along) my friends mom wanted me to come over where she surprised me with a home made bouquet of pink roses and white lace and i had 5 dresses to pick from. Well none of them fit my gigantic belly but one, a floor length black dress, sleeveless, with a big red rose on the side of the belly. My husband wore blue jeans with a belt and a dark green collared long sleeve shirt. (nobody surprised him with clothes, and i was originally wearing a skirt and ruffly top that more matched him), but whatever.
it was a neat day, my friends were scrambling around trying to find me something borrowed , blue, old.....
ummm...street clothes lol. i think i might have worn a dress or skirt, and i think hubby wore khakis....
and you know what? i don't really regret it. someday we might renew our vows and have the whole big shindig...but i hate being in the spotlight...and the thought of all that money makes me cringe so...yeah we're pretty happy as is :)
My husband & I were the honor attendants at a courthouse wedding. The bride wore a really pretty ivory pant suit & the groom wore a grey suit- ditto for my husband. I wore a pink suit that the bride picked out. Their parents were there & similarly dressed & we went out to a beautiful dinner with 20 people that night.
I didn't have a courthouse wedding, but I was at the courthouse one day when a bride walked in in full white formal wedding dress with a train and veil and a bridesmaid in a red dress in tow...
My husband wore his Military Class A's and I wore a simple dress and heels. I wanted the pictures to be cute and to look nice even though we couldnt afford a real wedding.
