What Mattress Do You Recommend for a Six Year Olds?

What mattress do you recommend for a 6 year old who constantly complains that her mattress is too hard and uncomfortable? I believe her because I have slept on it quite a few times when she has been sick and it really is. I like a soft mattress myself, but do not know much about what is best for a 6 year old. I bought the bed from Furnitureland South and the mattress/box springs came with it and is just mid-level factory, no particular brand quality. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have no idea what the style name is...when I was looking for mattresses for my kids, I walked into a Sealy store and told them I wanted the least expensive mattress and box spring set they had...and I have to tell you, now, 4 years later, they are still the most comfortable mattresses in the house. They are one step up from the mattress set that came with something like a box spring but it was made with cardboard...

The other thing I have done with the bunkie board mattress that we have on the top bunk bed is get a good mattress topper, like the memory foam topper...or more recently we have used a feather bed topper on top of the mattress. Those are 2 options that are a little less pricey if you aren't ready to make the plunge on a new mattress set.

Good luck!

Instead of the expense of a new mattress, I purchased those foam toppers things that look like egg carton on one side. You sleep with that side up and my kids love their beds now. My son also complained of an uncomfortable bed but not any longer. The sheets fit just fine over them as well.

Go to a mattress store with slip-off shoes and and have her try them out!

I have a cheap mattress on my bed, then got a nice mattress topper that makes it feel quite soft. I bought it at Target for about $50 (double size).

save money and just get her a mattress topper.
instead of buying her a whole new mattress.

There's no need to purchase an expensive new mattress if your daughter's is still serviceable. I would buy a pillow top mattress cover that can be placed right on the mattress like a fitted sheet. They're absolutely wonderful!
