For mommy stuff I like babycenter.com They have a great online community and a group for everyone. I get a lot of good info out of it and no one judges me for my choices.
Hey Moms!
I'm overwhelmed by how networks there are, and I want to find the ones that moms like me use most. So I'm wondering where you have found the most benefit. Do you love twitter, facebook or? Thanks for your feedback!
Wow Moms! You are the reason I am on Mamapedia! I feel like I have a master level support and its awesome. Thanks so much! I plan to check out the sites Dana mentions about connecting these social networks together because I'm over my head trying to keep up with them all. I have just launched a website this week and hope to pick your brain again at some point, because I don't know what I'm doing quite yet. And the best part is I feel safe telling you that without feeling judged because of it. You rock and I appreciate all of you!
Believe well!

I do social media professionally for my company.
It's really hard to answer the question because it really depends on why you want to use the sites.
If it's for advice, I do like Mamapedia better than BabyCenter, CafeMom, etc.
If it's for work, I prefer Linkedin and Twitter - it has great professional functionality, but I don't know enough people to follow or be interested in personally.
If it's personal use, I like Facebook. But, there are a lot of companies that are very wildly successful using Facebook fan pages (Childrens' Place, for example). We aren't so successful because of FDA regulations and how we can interact with consumers.
There are services (such as Seesmic Desktop, Tweetdeck, etc) that can streamline all your social media sites into one application. I only see that being important if you're using the sites professionally.
The one thing I have noticed is that a lot of people who are jumping into social media for marketing purposes haven't really learned some of its core beliefs (transparency, soft-sell, full-disclosure, integration into the social community). I'm finding a lot of people on Linkedin are using it solely for sales opportunities, and it can get a little frustrating when you're trying to network without being pitched at all the time.
I personally like facebook. I find that more people "my age" are on it, and it is almost a kid bragging site. I can connect to old classmates and local people as well. Plus, there is better security and I can decide who sees what.
facebook is great :)
I've been on FB since it was restricted to current college students (when you lost your "school-email" your acct was automatically canceled).
My absolute *FAVORITE* however, is yahoo.groups because it's actually useful, as opposed to a public diary (like facebook/ twitter/ etc.).
I too love Facebook. I tried Twitter, but didn't see the point. It seems to me that Facebook has a "twitter" feed built in, but you can do so much more!!
I am on Facebook ALL the time. I have a lot of friends on there, but don't necessarily interact with many of them. It's neat to see old high school & college classmates on there, their pics, see what they are up to etc. Plus I share my own family pics with friends & family on there. And we are also addicted to some of the games haha (mainly FarmVille for me right now).
Facebook also has a lot of groups & fan pages for many things. Some are ridiculous, but there are some mom-based ones (Mamapedia is on there, for example). And also some for coupons & stores.
I was on myspace for a while, but definitely would NOT go back to that! It seems to be more immature kids on there than on Facebook. Bunch of unnecessary junk.
I really love Facebook. I have found old college friends I never would have had contact with, and lots of friends from my childhood. I love looking at pictures of friends and their families and businesses, etc. It's a really neat connection for me. And I think most of them feel the same way.
My name is C., and I'm a Facebook addict!
