Hi would like some recommendations on which is the best brand and model for a steam vacuum for carpet? Thank you very much.
I have the Hoover Steamvac Patriot and it works perfectly. I use it all the time and just love it. Carpet gets really clean and dries very very quickly!
I saw that someone else recommended the Kirby... I have one, and have loved it for the last 8 years. It has been really reliable and works great. I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread until I saw a demo of the Rainbow System!! It's completely amazing! The Rainbow makes my Kirby look like a giant pile of junk! I also have the Bissell ProHeat and it works great. I bought it from Target for $149. The reviews on Target give it good remarks as well. My brother used to sell the Kirby when he was a college student. It is the best out there but expensive....an investment for the long run.
I purchased a Bissell Pro Heat 12 amp. It's affordable and works great. It's an upright vaccuum type and has all the attachments for upholstery too. I also have light carpet and I think I do just as well as the commercial cleaners.
The best overall vacuum is the Kirby! It is expensive, but it does it all and you won't believe how awesome it is! It will last you the rest of your life too if it is maintaned well.

I have a Hoover too and I really like it. It's the Spin Scrub Heated cleaning. In fact, I used it today and it's crazy to see how much dirt is in your carpet even when it appears clean. I have a Dyson and a Roomba too, so needless to say, I am obsessed with having clean carpets.
I am looking to buy a steam cleaner also. I have used a friends Hoover steam cleaner and LOVED it! It was easy to use, inexpensive, cleaned well, and my carpets dried pretty quickly ( I used fans to help dry them faster). The price is awesome also. I vote for the HOOVER! Good luck!
The Green Machine is awesome! It was recommended by our carpet cleaning guy, and it works great on pet poop & urine, kid's spit up and other accidents. It's amazing, and not that expensive. It is more for accidents and spot cleaning, not the whole room or house. I think you can get it at Target.
The Bissel Pro Heat 2 - I like this the best. Easy to use, easy compartments and nice sized. As far as solution, I think the best cleaner I have used is Genesis 950.
