Actually if you see something you like on a blog or a website you can 'pin" the part that you like -- a big type thumbnail for instance, a recipe for crockpot fiesta chicken, that pin would have a picture of the dish and a link to the blog etc that had the recipe. There are tons of weddign dresses, hairstyles,recipies, Lesson ideas, wall art,diy ideas, oh and the funny quotes--- those are my favorites. Christopher Walken in a white suit admist the pine trees entitled Walken in a Winter Wonderland. LOVE THAT ONE.

I just signed up for it and got on but don't really know what to do with it so glad VM said something that makes a little sense. I guess I'll figure it out eventually but you have wait to get on it after you sign up.

One reason I like it because I am NOT a naturally organized person, but I get tons of ideas and inspirations from various websites for helpful hints, DIY advice, recipes, home decor, etc, but I lose track of them. I've been using Pintrest to help me organize ideas for our long-in-the-works kitchen and bath remodels--helps me to compare various product ideas & looks, without having to print things out or manage various "Favorites" files in my web browser.

It was hard for me to figure out at first, but I finally got the hang of it and I LOVE it now! I have to be smart about when I log on becuase I could potentially be on forever and my kids would starve. Like some of the other responders have said, it's a place to get ideas on just about anything...food, fashion, arts and crafts, etc. They even have a board that is just about humor. Love THAT one! Play around with it....and that's more of a dare than a suggestion. Lol! Oh, and like QueenoftheCastle said...you have to be invited. But I think you can just look around a little without being invited, just can't make your own pinboards. Oh, and another thing. You can "follow" people. For instance, I have about 4 or 5 friends that I "follow" and anything they "pin" I can see on my main page. This is handy for if a friend of yours finds something cool that they think you'd like and they can pin it to their board and you will see it. I KNOW this sounds confusing reading this right now, but you will totally get it once you play around with it! Have fun!! :)
