I'm having a real tough time controlling my eating habits lately. I know I need some help getting back on track and someone told me about Weight Watchers as an option. Has anyone tried this and has had success with the program? Is it worth the money?

I don't know much about weight watchers, but my ex sister-in-law did. She didn't exercise which might have speed up her process, but she did lose about 100 lbs on weight watchers and she looks great. She said that the support system with them is what helped her. Good luck!

I am a WW lifetime member, as is my husband, my sister-in-law, and 2 of my friends. All of us have had great success with the program.

What WW allows you to do is to learn how to balance calories with activity (mopping the floor even counts!) while still eating foods that you would eat. They give you tools to learn how to control portions and choose foods that will let you feel full and satisfied and get the best bang out of your calorie "buck." So unlike the other programs where you're buying their foods or eating differnt things than normal, WW isn't a "diet." Which is why it works so well for everyone, because you never really come off of it (don't worry, you don't pay forever). Once you reach your goal weight, you just continue to monitor what you eat and keep everything in balance.

So to answer your question, yes, I think it's well worth the money. The money for me was my motivation to lose the weight and become a Lifetime member, so I didn't have to pay anymore!

Hi!

I've tried Weight Watchers in the past with great success! I have just started up again to help lose weight left over from my pregnancy. It is a great program that encourages healthy eating habits, no dieting.

Good luck to you!

I am a lifetime member of WW. I highly recommend the program as it has worked for me! I lost 65 lbs and got to my goal weight, maintained it for 6 weeks and become lifetime. After about 4 months, I got pregnant. Once I had my baby, I got right back on program and got back to goal weight within a few months. I love the meetings! The support and feedback you get from other members is awesome! It really really helps and keeps you motivated. Plus, it isn't a diet...it is a lifestyle. You learn about portion control, tracking your daily food intake. I highly recommend it!

i have been doing WW for over a year and have had success.. actually I have lost 45lbs. i still have some more to go.. The nice thing is you don't have to buy specific foods and it reminds you and holds you accountable. I also did WW online only which was less money however I did not have the same results (10lbs). The other bonus is you can get lifetime and go for free once you hit your goal .. another bonus. Good luck!

I did weight watchers last year and lost almost 35 pounds! I was lucky enough that I had a friend that had done it and had given me the info for counting points, etc. I would say it would definitely be worth it to go to a meeting to be able to get the info, and then just track your progress yourself. Good luck! :)

I have not tried this program, but my mother lost over 100 pounds on it. I've also done a lot of research in the areas of weight loss, nutrition, fitness, etc. and I have to give Weight Watchers a big gold star...as a fantastic starter program.

It sounds like you are looking for some decent, sound nutritional education. Weight Watchers does a really good job of teaching people about calories, how they work, how many per day one should consume, portion control, PLUS it has the added benefit of a support group AND holding yourself accountable.

People who journal their food intake tend to lose twice as much weight as people who just 'guess' or 'eyeball it'. Weight Watchers is really good at teaching people how to journal food, accurately measure portion sizes (and later be able to quickly eyeball it and know that you're only eating one serving and not five). Having a support system who helps hold you accountable for your goals also tends to help.

I would highly recommend the program. It involves eating REAL food and adopting a nutrition plan that you'll follow for the rest of your life. Avoid any program that only works if you have to drink their shakes, eat their meal replacement bars, or take their expensive vitamins - really, is that a way to live for the rest of your life?

Weight Watchers is good, but try http://www.sparkpeople.com/ first. My friend lost a whole bunch of weight on it and sparkpeople is free!

At least it's a free way to get started. If you don't like it, then you could try Weight Watchers.
