Wearing Foundation with a Seven Month Old Baby?

Hey moms,
This seems like such a silly question, but I have never actually done this, so here goes. My husband did win an awards trip to San Diego next month, yeah! We talked to HR and found out that nursing babies under a year are welcome so me, my hubby and our baby who will be 7 months at that time are going. So the thing is, I am like mommie hot, but not exactly regular hot right now. I am a bit overweight etc, so I am getting a nice hair cut, highlights, pedicure, manicure, a few new clothes etc. I want to look my best for this awesome trip. So I would also like to wear make up, but my baby is a nursing little guy and often just goes into baby attack mode and will munch my face, my neck etc. It is so cute actually and one of the ways we play; and with all my little babies I have just never worn any liquid foundation while they were babies, or any perfume etc. I wash all the clothes with free and clear detergent the whole first year. My babies are sensitive and the first two had excema as babies, so I always just throw some concealer under my eyes and go with that. But my new baby is less sensitive, no excema, thank God. So, do any of you moms our there with little babies wear liquid foundation while in small baby mode? It's not like I don't like my skin or anything, it's just that foundation gives you a nice finished look. Any ideas, is it do-able, or should I just do my normal concealer. Thanks for any input!

What can I do next?

Makeup is my war paint that I face the world with. I had makeup on the day after my son was born (no skin issues ever).

I wear bare minerals.

The finishing powder, btw, is just cornstarch. If you go with bare minerals save $20 and just add a little of the foundation powder into a compact with cornstarch and stir. Voila.

You can try it before the trip and see how it goes. Above all else. Enjoy. A person in the throws of happiness is hottest of all!

You'll get all kinds of ideas. I love Clinique and I've used it since I was a teen. I wear Clinique daily.

Most importantly... Go with your comfort level and how you feel best. Beautiful women wear little to no makeup and their confidence exceeds the difference! If you wear makeup for the first time at a conference, chances are others will pick up on it. Bottom line.. Be yourself

Where in San Diego?? We just got back from a conference at the Hilton Mission Bay! Loved it but it was chilly!

Enjoy!

I don't wear foundation, I can't stand the heavy feeling. But I do wear a very light tinted moisturiser which just gives that finished look. I think I wore it when my children were nursing, as it has SPF 15 too.

Skip liquid, use a tinted moisturizer and bare minerals powder foundation. You'll love the difference!

I lived in the San Diego area for a few years, and found the going "style" to be casual, not dressy, unless perhaps you're thinking dinners and dancing.

I always liked the "daytime fresh" look with just a bit of concealer and lip gloss, maybe a touch of eye shadow if the weather wasn't too hot and sweaty. But I'm the type who, if the mistake would be to overdress or underdress, would rather err toward less. And women with styled hair and makeup tend to look more like "tourists" (which is okay, you should still be treated with friendly courtesy).

I hope you enjoy your trip!

perhaps skip the face noshing durring the time your wearing makeup at the awards? or if the trip is the award then i would skip it. wear eye make up and lip stick if your natural skin is nice enough to shine. lucky duck my skin is horrible from acne scars. i would rather have some face noshing than make up. you wont get these times back. ..... hopefully he wont be noshing when he is 15 hhehehe j/k congrats to your husband ! have a wonderful trip.

I have a couple of friends who wear bare minerals without foundation and their skin looks flawless.

Consider doing the rest of the "face" but not the foundation.

You can wear it of course but obviously don't let your baby lick your face. I always wear liquid foundation when I go out but I try not to wear it at home because my son still like to cuddle and kiss my face. Bare minerals is great and will hold up in the heat. And beautiful women only look like they are not wearing makeup. They just play up their strengths and do not cover up their natural beauty.

Get Bare Minarels makeup. It's what I wore all the time when my kids were younger. It covers nicely, is super easy to apply and doesn't "melt" or smear. You can order online or get it at Sephora or a department store.

Revlon has a Flex line that does not smudge. I wear little to no make-up with LO, too. Maybe you can really work on your skin so that you can be more natural. The San Diego climate really lends to good hair and skin.

I would go with a lighter mineral foundation and not a liquid. It may also be time to teach him to not touch faces. I know its part of your bonding and its really sweet. but very few people actually like their face being touched.
I know mine is off limits, as is my hair.
Have fun on your trip!
