I have 3 kids and moved to the Hedgesville area last year. I know only 2 people and they are the neighbors behind me. I couldn't of asked for better neighbors but when we were looking for a house we never took it in consideration to find a area with young kids. I have a 3yr old daughter, and a 18month old son and another daughter who is 41/2 months old. They have friends from Maryland where we used to live but none here. They only have my husband and I. when I leave to go somewhere and dont take the older kids they scream and wig out. When they do get around kids I have never seen them so happy. I dont want this to put a damper on there social skills. Is there anyone in the area near me or anyone with advice. I can't afford any extra activites and they do nothing but stay home unless I have to go out. My kids need friends and I need help. I am not the one who can just go talk and meet new people I am shy in that area but I want my children who I love with all my heart to have friends. I want to put my oldest daughter in preschool to make friends but I can't even afford that right now.

Thanks for any and all help.
K.

Hi K.,

My name is J. and I live in Martinsburg. I have 5 children ages, 17, 14, 13, 10 and 5. (4 boys and the last one a girl). I know how you feel. I am recently a stay at home mom after working since I graduated from college. I too am looking to meet other moms in the area and I'm shy as well. My email address is ____@____.com , maybe we could have coffee sometime. My husband and I do coach soccer through parks and rec, they have plenty of programs for children of all age and the fees are really reasonable.

Hi, I'm a stay at home mom as well. I live in the Martinsburg area. My boys are 18 months and 6 months. We pretty much stay home as well unless I've got errands to run. Maybe those of us around here can set up a weekly "play date" for our kids to get socialized more (and give us a some adult conversation). Also, if you're really interested in preschool you should contact MountainHeart Child Care Services ###-###-####) they help you with preschool and day care expenses. (email: ____@____.com)

K.,
My name is B. & I have 3 children of my own. My oldest daughter is 10, my son is 9 & my youngest daughter is 4. I know exactly how you feel. We live in Winchester, Va & have been here alittle over a year. The adjustment was really tough. Not just on my kids but on me as well. I'm not sure exactly where in WV you are located but we are fairly close to certain parts of WV. If you wanted to arrange a playdate for our girls I'd be willing to meet with you. My 4 year old loves to play with kids her own age too & unfortunatley there aren't too many pre school age kids in my neighborhood who aren't actually in pre school!!! I'm a stay at home mom so our days are pretty flexible. Just let me know & good luck to you.
