The kids and I are goring to carve pumpkins tonight, and every year I forget how long to toast the pumpkin seeds. Does 20 minutes at 350 sound about right?

Lol I was gonna post the same ? last night than just decided to just figure it out instead of waiting for an answer. It depends on how many seeds your pumpkin produces. I usually put them on a baking sheet with nothing but salt, oil makes them to chewy for my taste. Place in oven on 350 and check them in 20 min than stir them every 10 min till they are dry. And a great tip DON'T RINSE them all the goo and slim make for a tasty seed , its just like eating roasted pumpkin or pumpkin pie so the more goop the better. Happy Halloween!!

We love toasted pumpkin seeds! You can toast other squash seeds too.

This is how I do it:
Separate the seeds from the stringy pulp, but Do Not rinse the seeds. The residual goo is a good thing and adds deliciousness.

Toss with a little bit of oil and salt (or a seasoning you like)

Spread in a layer on a cookie sheet

Length of time in the over depends on the size and quantity of the seeds. Bake at 325, checking every 10 minutes to stir. Take them out when they are gold, before the shells turn brown. The goo bits on the pan will brown before the shells do, so don't be alarmed at that.

This is how I do it, and the kids love love love them. :)

I rinse them somewhat, but leave some of the stringy pulp. I put them in a bowl with a LOT of salt (I know... bad lol). I soak them for about 3 days, stirring about 3 times a day. Then, I drain and roast them at about 200 degrees for most of a day on a Pam sprayed pan, moving them around a bit every now and then. A friend of mine will sprinkle hers with different seasonings like garlic powder, caianne (sp) pepper, etc... But I just like normal ones. I like the low and slow method of roasting rather than the fast and high temps.

Wow, I have learned something..... thank you previous posters.

We love toasted pumpkin seeds and we buy extra pumpkins just so we have extra seeds.

However, I have never left the goo.. I've always rinsed them well.

Then I spread on a cookie sheet, I sprinkle with salt and instead of oil.. I use a little Pam spray oil.

I bake on 325 and check them often.

Good luck.

My daughter just made some, they came out of the oven about 10 minutes ago. She baked them at 325 for about 20 minutes.

I put a thin layer of oil on the pan then lay out the seeds, I sprinkle some with cinnamon sugar, some with salt and some with parmesan cheese. Then I set the oven for 250 and check it every 15 minutes or so. I like having a variety of flavors for the kids to try. You could try BBQ, ranch, etc.
