P.K.
If it was me, I would keep my plans for Disney. You must have reservations and was leaving soon. Are you going to lose money. That is a big disappointment for a five year old. Hope you decide to go.
Hi Everyone,
So our 1wk vacation to Disney had to be cancelled (my bro and family has the flu and cant go), now I'm trying to see what we can do near Dallas to make up for....my 5yr old doesnt know about the cancellation :(
Any roadtrip suggestions?

Oh no! No other roadtrip will be as exciting as Disney. But try Houston! You can get a CityPass. For less than $50 adults $36 kids, you can get in 5 places of your choice between the Houston Zoo, Houston Children's Museum, Downtown Aquarium, Space Center Houston, Kemah boardwalk and the fine arts museum. The pass is good for 9 days - perfect for spring break.
Plus, Galveston (not exactly the blue waters of Florida) is a hop skip and a jump from Houston where you can hang out on the beach or Moody Gardens, the boardwalk or Rainforest Cafe, plus enjoy some really great seafood.
If you book a room on hotel.com or priceline.com you'll probably score a 4-5 star hotel for less than $100 a night (we got the Houston Continental once for $75/night during one of our staycations).
There is also hiking/biking trails all over, kayaking in our bayous and berry farms to go picking.
Its not hard to get around Houston either. Driving can be long but not too long if you take our tollways.
Have fun whatever you do.
I would take a road trip to San Antonio. There is Sea World and the river walk, and Fiesta TX. If you don't want ot go that far you can do the zoo, aquariem, Six Flags (Depending on when you are going) San Antonio would be my first close roadtrip choice though
I'm with Heidi, If you are going on a road trip I would do San Antonio.
That said, you can always do the Ft Worth Zoo, Stockyards,
Dallas... Aquarium, Science Place, Zoo, Museums, a Stars hockey game or Mavericks basketball game, etc.
Have fun and I'm sorry you had to cancel.
If you aren't going to go ahead with Disney I would do what the other people are saying, hit up good ol' San Antone' . There is SeaWorld, Six Flags, Natural Bridge Caverns is also near by, then (if possible or if only to dream :D ) a night out on the Riverwalk for you and the SO.

Also, Arboretum, Stockyards in Fort Worth, There is an amazing new science museum but you must get tickets ahead - Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Dallas Childrens Theater, Richardson Childrens Theater, They film Barney here (not sure how to get in), Fort Worth has a great zoo too.
Glen Rose: http://paleo.cc/paluxy/dvsp.htm
Great Wolf Lodge is supposed to be really fun for kids.
Legoland at Grapevine mall
Gaylord Texan usually has lots of kids activities.
Fossil Rim in Glen Rose TX
A little further away is NASA in Houston.
Galveston!, visit Moody Gardens they even have a Schilzterbaun (sP?) restaurants on the coast line. Crystal beach. On the way visit NASA or Kemah.
