Any ideas for fun things to do in Houston over spring break?

PS: We have already been to the butterfly gardens, chidren's museum, and Galveston... we are looking to stay in the Galleria area. Any other museums with good exhibits right now? Any good seafood/pizza restaurants? (Those are our faves!). Any other adventures for kids? Are there botanical gardens worth visiting? Thanks!!

PPS: Not religious, so visiting churches is not for us! :)

What can I do next?

Getting to see the sights while you have time over a school break if great, but sometimes kids love to just play and use their imagination, and not have to be doing. Do you have a yard where their imaginations could run wild and play or cook or make stuff. Sometimes a good art center has fun craft things for kids to do. Or just go to the ocean and enjoy.

You might want to check out some of the programs that NASA has. I heard they have some new exhibits for kids. I was there several years ago with scout troops for overnight visits and most of the kids seemed to enjoy it and learned quite a bit. I did have a few kids who thought it was boring.

I grew up in Houston and I really can't think of too many fun places to go to be quite honest. However, the Kemah Boardwalk is great for a day trip. It's about 45-1hour south of Houston on I45. There's also Nasa(also 45 South}. There are a couple of water parks like Splash Town and there's the Houston Zoo and the museums located next to Herman Park in downtown. The arboretum was always fun. Galveston would be fun too(Moody Gardens) except I've heard from friends it's not the same since the hurricanes. Ok, maybe there are a few fun places-it just depends on what your children are into. Hope this helps! If you have any questions let me know.

I took my 7 year old to Keemah and Johnson Space Center a year ago. He loved both. He loved, The Aquarium Restauraunt in Keemah... life size aquarium and then you can feed the sting rays after dinner in a downstairs exhibit. Johnson Space Center was awesome, too.

I'm probably too late but for future reference you can go on small hikes to see the alligators at Brazos Bend State Park in the Sugarland area. My kids love it.

The only idea that I have is the Houston Space Center. They do tours and have a cool space room for the kids to play in. Hope this helps.

There is a "waterwall" right next to the Galleria that is fun to go to - especially on hot days and cool pictures. There is also the Houston Zoo near Hermann Park (with a cute train that goes around it/parks to play on) and the Museum of Natural Science with a cool butterfly house where kids can go in and actually have the butterflies flying around them. There is also the children's museum (which is awesome!) also in the same area. There is also a new Green Park downtown they just built with lots of fun things for children. You could google it on the net...i forgot the name. Its new and cool. In Galveston there is Schlitterbahn water park (check and see if its open). There is also a cute outdoor shopping village on 45 called Old Town Springs with lots of cool shops...also a waterpark nearby that place.
Hope this helps and have fun! As far as food: There is a cute cupcake boutique on Shepherd street that has the best gourmet cupcakes, called "Sugarbaby's". Your girls would love it- pink everywhere! you could also ice skate in the galleria on the 1st floor. one of our favorite restaraunts there was "barnaby's", very cute and delicious restaraunt there! Hope this helps!

Close to Galveston there is a really cool place called Moody Gardens...it's a huge glass enclosure with lots of birds and butterflies. Also, in Houston you can visit the Transco Water Tower.

When I was young we went to Houston over Easter weekend one year. We saw NASA, Battleship Texas, San Jacinto monument. I know the monument was the most exciting but a great history lesson. NASA and the ship were alot of fun. I don't know now what their tours are but you might be able to pull them up online.
