Teething Help - Mesquite, TX

My 6 month old daughter is teething and nothing is working for her. We've tried regular OraJel and the night time formula. Both will work for a short time but once it is worn off, she gets fussy immediately. Especially at night time, she's been waking up every couple of hours (I'm guessing from the pain). We bought the teething tablets as well and those were ok. I'm running out of ideas on what to do. Please....I could really use your help on this!

What can I do next?

I had a lot of trouble helping my son with his teething pain. I went to cox farms Market in Duncanville and got him Kid-e-Calc and gave him 5 drops 3 times a day and that really helped him a lot. It says to give 5-10 drops 3 times a day and I just put it on a baby spoon and gave it to him as if it were soup or something. He loved it and it helped him to sleep and it was a huge relief to me and my husband too. I imagine that you could buy it at most health food stores. It is Christophers Original Formula Kid-e-Calc.

Hope it helps!

Well, I know it's old fashioned n such, but Ginger Brandy just purchase a "Nip" and you will HARDLY use any. My pedi, my sister's pedi's etc have recommended it the tablets and the gels often cause nerve damage and that's NOT COOL! Good Luck

We gave our daughter the teething tablets - 3 tablets, 4 times a day and at night, when it was bad, we gave her infants Motrin, followed by infants Tylenol, if she needed more later in the night. If we gave her the Tylenol first, she would wake up in about 3 hours, but with the Motrin, she would get at least 6 hours before it seemed to bother her again.

Ibuprofin (Motrin) was the only thing that worked for my boys. I'm not a big med. person, so I usually limited it to nap time and bed time.

Your pediatrician can give you something that's a little stronger and more soothing than the Orajel. It's not prescription, but it's also not something you can purchase in the store. I can't remember the name of it though.

I also have the little mesh bag (you can find it at Target or Babies R us) and I put frozen apples or frozen teething biscuits in it for my daughter to chew on.

I have 3 kids of my own and a 14 yr old stepdaughter. My others are 21 mos, 5yrs and 8yrs. When they were teething I would alternate Tylenol and Motrin like every 6 hours and I would give them my keys to use as a teething ring. I know that it sounds kind of gross but I was a single working mom with three kids and it helped. It was what my mom had done for my brother and sister and me. During the day I gave them otter pops or put a piece of ice in the middle of a kitchen towel and twist the ice up, put a knot behind it and use it as a teething ring. I don't know why but the keys and the ice seem to help. Unfortunately, a lot of teething is holding a crying baby and not being to fix it all the way. I'm 27 and I have one still teething. It's not much but I hope that it helps. Good luck

I ditto the Motrin infants drops. Be sure to ask your pedi about dosing, but it works wonders for my daughter.

We used Motrin at night along with rubbing Benedryl on the gums.

Mortin for infants. I would only use it at bedtime so my girls would get a goodnight sleep when they were teething and their teeth were bothering them. It always seemed it got worse at night time for my girls.

Orajel is a joke. It just numbs their tongue! Try dipping your finger in Benedryl, store brand of the same is fine too. Then rub your finger on her gumbs. This worked wonders for all three of mine. The other thing I loved was Hylands teething tablets. They dessolve under the tongue instantly and have no taste. It's organic and has no side effects either, all natural.

Good Luck
