Hyland's Teething Tablets.

Blue & Pink packaging, about $5
They are a homeopathic remedy that quick-dissolves in the baby's mouth.

Wall mart sells in the baby section.

Have you tried the Highland Teething Pills? They are little white pills that you put in between their gums and lip and they dissolve. This is the ONLY thing that worked for my two boys. I would also get a washcloth wet and freeze it overnight and then let them chew it or suck on it. It really does help.. You can usually find the teething pills in the baby isle in any store. The package is pink and white. Hope this helps you in anyway.

Hi M.~
I've tried a soft cloth dampened with cool water that helps some with the pain and discomfort. You may not be able to totally take away the pain and discomfort, but keep doing the things you're doing and that will hopefully take some of the edge off. Good luck!

I used "Herbs for Kids" teething and colic homeopathic med. It usually worked. I love th brand herbs for kids. I used them from early on and still do, my son is 2.5. They also have something calle tempasure that will bring down a fever (low grade) within about 15min.

The website is herbsforkids.com but you can not uy directly from them you have to purchase from a distributor. I found drugstore.com to be the best priced.

Good luck,

Hi M.,

My best advice for you is to make sure she has something to chew on at all times. There are tons of different teethers you can buy, even a teething blanket. The thing that worked best with my cranky teething son was a cold, wet washcloth!!

I hope this helps!! Good luck!!!

Hi~
I'm 'Mom' to 4 grown and 'Mom-Mom' to 3 little 'grand' kids, and I learned that those two little white spots on the lower gums that sometimes look like teeth really aren't. When the teeth are about to erupt, the gums WILL be fatter (swollen, I guess) and softer. When this occurs, you can usually actually FEEL the little teeth under the skin. Cooled teethers can be helpful if the baby's teeth are actually ready to erupt.

When OUR kids got miserable with this 'cutting' of teeth through the gums, I'd take the flat surface of one of my finger- or thumbnails and rub hard enough to actually cut the tooth through the skin. While some folks probably think of this as cruel, it made their gums sore for 2 or 3 days, while it would've taken another WEEK or two of misery had I NOT done it. (I'm one to 'cut to the chase' and get it over with, even if it's something I'm doing that hurts me, myself).

Hope this helps!

When my son was teething, I gave him a vibrating teether (his looked like a Pooh honey pot). I think we got it at Target. When he would bite down, it would vibrate slightly. He would just chew on that thing for what seemed like hours. Also, we used the Oragel swabs and they worked great! I also had one of the meshbag feeder things and I would put small chunks of frozen fruit in them...that was messy, but he thought it was great! Good luck!

M., you obviously haven't heard of "baby crack." Ok, I don't mean that in a bad way...but... have you tried Hyland's teething tablets? They are at Wal-Mart and every drug store around. They come in a blue and pink box. They are a homeopathic med. for this. If I remember correctly (my girls are 5 1/2 and 4), you give 3 tablets at first then 1 at a time every 15 min. after that. They dissolve in the baby's mouth and they work!!! I started giving them to my 5 1/2 yr. old at 4 1/2 mo. and she didn't get a tooth until she was over 7 mo. old. (FYI- that tooth is now loose!!) Anyways, my friends and I swore by it and didn't mind giving it to our kids since it was natural and not a "drug." Good luck. Hylands has a whole line of homeopathic stuff that I think works well...

Baby Oragel does not work well. I used Hurricane gel. You can get it from your pharmacist. It is the gel that the dentist uses just before giving you a shot. I promise that it will work. You may still have the typical symptoms like diarrhea but the pain is much easier on your sweet baby girl!! Good luck!!

When my daughter is teething I do it all. Teething tablets, pain reliever, orajel, a wet, frozen washcloth, vibrating teethers or freezable teethers. She usually does great with the tablets, reliever, orajel, and loves the frozen washcloth the best. However, she still loves anyones fingers the most it seems so I actually wash my hands and massage her gums while pushing down on them to help them break thru. I was told when my others were babies to use a thimble from a sewing kit to rub on the gums and a little bit of drinking alcohol, I think whiskey. I don't recommend that personally-but people still do use it. It does help too. Good Luck and God Bless

When mine was teething, Tylenol helped but the orajel and all that stuff never helped. The only thing that I did that helped was SUPER stimulation and ALOT of patience. What I mean by stimulation is that I was constantly, and when I say constantly, believe me, I mean constantly playing with her, bouncing, picking up toys in front of her, being really dramatic in my speach to her, walking around with her, going outside with her, putting her in the bathtub many times a day (she loved the water). I was doing this constantly so it took her mind off of hurting. As she got older, maybe about 7 or 8 months, I am sure it still hurt, she could just handle it better.
I know this is not alot of help but that is the only thing that I found that even came close, other than nursing her all the time. When I nursed she would fall asleep and that would help too. I usually did that when I was extremely tired and wore out.

When my son was teething I would let him bite on my fingers and bit on anything with a texture that would help with the soreness and irritation. Some of the toy rings have the rounding textures on them so that helped sooth him when he put it in his mouth and teething rings aloud him to bite down more comfortably. Although the cold temp helps numb the gums, my son did not like cold stuff, but if your daughter does not mind the cold, try putting a mini doughnut in the freezer and giving her that to bite on.
Good luck and God Bless,

Highlands Teething Tablets!!!!! They're in the vitamin aisle @WalMart, but any pharmacy shoud have them too. They are a natral homeopathic pill that disolves in their mouth and it gives a little numbing to the hurting area w/ no bad taste. All three of my kids and all my nieces and nephews used them , mine are 3,5,7 and still want them when they feel bad.

Try Little Teethers teething tablets - they worked great for us to take the 'edge' off the teething pain. Also, putting a damp washcloth in the freezer and letting your baby chew on it also helps. Good luck! ;)

My babies loved for me to give them an ice cube wrapped in a washcloth and rubber banded super tightly underneath it. I would wet the tip with cold water and hold it in their mouth and they would knaw on it like crazy and even suck the water out of the cloth. It felt so good to them and would sometimes even help the teeth come through. Plus, the cold would eventually numb their gums, too. Teething is hard, but it won't last forever! =0) Oh..and infant Motrin always helped my kids more than Tylenol. I think the Motrin even says "for teething pain" on the back. Good luck to you both!

Hyland Teething Tablets are just the best! Both Target and Walmart carry them (and I'm sure many other drug stores). It comes in a little box, though, so it can be kind of hard to spot on the shelf. It's usually int he section with other "children's remedies" - something like that. It works really well and is completely safe - non-toxic.

I am going through the same thing with my 5 month old. He's been teething for about a month. This past weekend I thought I was going to pull my hair out with all the fussing because he is typically a happy baby. He will not eat his bottles or anything because he is so uncomfortable. He constantly has his hands or something else in his mouth. I finally took a baby washcloth and wet it. Then I put it in the freezer for about 30 minutes so that it was pretty cold. It will be a little stiff but you can hold it for a few minutes and the stiffness will go away. Take it and rub her gums with it. The coldness will soothe the gums. Once it's not as cold and she can hold it - let her have it and she will chew, chew, chew. The main thing is to be patient and let them chew on soft toys or blankets/washcloths. I did give mine a little tylenol but I don't like giving medicine when they are that little. Also, you can go to any pharmacy and buy this teething lotion called "Hurricaine" and it works pretty good but you want to make sure not to use too much. I feel for you as I'm going through the same thing and good luck.

Hi M.,
Teething is very hard on a child. That cutting through those tender gums can be so very painful.
Maybe a cold wash cloth for them to hold. My mother done that with us when we were young. We would teeth on it and it seem to comfort us a bit. You can teach them to touch their little face with it which will feel really good against the hot face.
Be there and show them all your love.
In your eyes and a wonderful smile that you have as a Mother.

Have a good Day today

Hi M.. I'm K. and mother of 5, now Grandma of one. I always took one of my baby washcloths, got it soaking wet, wrung it out and put it in the freezer. Once frozen my babies would knaw on it til it dripped again. The cold numbs sore gums in a non-medicinal way. Used in conjunction with infant Tylenol, I had much less fussiness. Also, there are many "chew toy" options for babies right in the grocery store. Just freeze and go. I bought several for my new grandson. These are great for in the car. Good luck. Just remember that this too shall pass.

I never used any gels. I found that chilled damp clothes, firm chewable rings, and even tongue depressors from Doctor's office all worked well. When close to solid food time, we used carrots and firm crisp crackers. Don't waist your time or money on products in the infant isle. You can find healthier choices in the regular food isles, for less money.

BTW, if your child runs a mild fever during teething, it isn't because of the teething itself. So fever reducers won't help much. What our doctor conveys was this: about the time a child starts to teeth, the mother's immunities are decreasing in their system. While there immune system is growing stronger. Needless to say, they are more susceptible to catching little things.

Remember also, that lower grade fevers are a good sign. It means their systems are fighting and getting stronger. It's always worth calling the docs office and informing them of everything that's going on. Often, a trip to the Doctor can be avoided. And, the less antibiotics, the better.

Hi M.,

I have found that teething tablets worked for my children. Also, teething rings. I have been told that the teething rings that are filled with water are not good because if the water ever leaked, it could be harmful to them. I have always gotten the teething rings that are filled with gel. Just pop it in the freezer and give it to your child. Another suggestion is the teething rings that vibrate. My 8 month old seems to love the vibration on her teeth. My last suggestion is a popsicle. My daughter loves those too.
Oh, also, a cold or frozen washcloth works well too. Good luck!

Here is a little known secret that I wish I had with my first baby. I often try children's benadryl. Your daughter may be a little young for it. I would called a pharmacist to ask about he doseage and would only do it at night (after several sleepless nights). It is a good way to help you little one get some sleep and you too! I did this with my second son (they are now 3&4yrs old and I am pregnant again)

If you don't want to try this, Walgreens has teething tablets in the homeopathic section.

Good Luck!

Hi M.,
I have four Boys and though that does not make me an expert, I found teething tablets to be very helpful. My youngest is 3 yrs old now so I don't quite remember the name of them or the brand. I think they are made by "Hyland's" and I think they might actually be called teething tablets. It's a small bottle in a small white box. (I think) You can buy them at walmart in the pharmacy or probably at any other pharmacy. They are all natural and they dissolve very quickly and easily in the baby's mouth. You just put them under her tongue and WA-LA! If the boys were REALLY fussy, sometimes I would give them the tablets and tylenol together. They all turned out just fine. Good Luck, hope this helps.

When my son was young (3 mos.) we thought he was teething. He was continually fussy even with tylenol. He was breastfeed exclusively and he would only nurse in an upright position. I just figured he'd be a fussy baby. We had a well check up scheduled and the dr found both ears really infected. The doctor asked if he'd been crying a lot. she told me that babies with ears that bad were usually inconsolable. It might be worth a call to the doctor. Good Luck!
