About one drop of clove essential oil diluted in about 4 oz olive oil--it numbs the gums, and relieves the pain. The Hylands homeopathic teething remedies are also good.
My friend's have a 9 month old that is teething, does anyone have any miracle remedies that has worked for you so I can pass info on to them?
Hello everyone. Wow, I loved all of your responses. Thank you so much. I learned a lot. I never heard of teething tablets or frozen bagels! Or chewing on onions! Thank you again!

I have used tylenol and the hyland's teething tablets. If the baby will let them they can try baby oragel on the gums also...
There are these homeopathic teething tablets. They have them at Albertsons & Longs. They work better than anything else for my daughter. Hope this helps!
For a 9 month old 1-2 teaspoons of liquid calcium from Lifetime or Blue Bonnett (blue berry flavored) with Hyland's Teething Tablets and you can use their Calms Forte for kids. The calcium works WONDERS as it's a natural pain killer and then combined with the homeopathic tablets - it's amazing.
Hello S.,
I have been using chamomilla belladona tiny pellets from Uriel Pharmacy (www.urielpharmacy.com) for several years. I take primary care during the days of my three small granddaughters, ages 3 1/2 years,17 months and 15 months. Uriel also carries a wonderful, safe series of home remedies for other minor first and second aid woes. They will send upon request a useful first aid guide with a free sample of rose lavender cream. The cream makes a soothing baby massage product.
I also found that the small baby washcloths, moistened or even chilled, have been soothing for my wee girls to gnaw on.A Toy Garden( www.atoygarden.com) has great little organic cotton "vegetables" and "gum buddies"for chewing. These are either fair trade items and/or made by local moms. Actually the site is wonderful for so many useful and beautiful items for babies and children of all ages.
I also use several therapeutic oil blends, for soothing distressed babies ( Peace and Calming and Gentle Baby especially). I either apply them to babies' feet or diffuse them, or both. http://P..younglivingworld.com.
Finally, I often put the baby into my Ergo soft carrier: this is the only one I found that works for a slight 60 year old comfortably and can be easily worn front, side or back, from birth until preschool size. (www.ergobabycarrier.com).
Aloha, P.
S.,
We use Hylands Teething Tabs on both of our daughters and they seem to work wonders! Tylenol is great too! Teething rings are helpful too as they are cold and a nice distraction. For sleep time go with a little bit of Tylenol and the Hyland tabs. Check all recommended doses of course.
Good luck! S.
Huge 2nd, 3rd, or 4th for Hylands Teething Tablets!! You can find them just about everywhere and they are awesome. :) Good luck!
Hyland's Teething Tablets and Gel work very well. I have never needed tylenol for my kids(: Hope this helps.
Hi there! We used Hyland's Teething Tablets for our kids and they work like a charm...totally homeopathic natural and safe with no side effects. You can get them at a health food store...good luck! :)
Another vote for teething tablets!! Also, Tylenol when sleeping if really bad. We also used the wet/semi-frozen washcloth method and it works.
I recently took an old bottle of tylenol and washed it really well, letting my baby teeth on the top rubber part. Probably not good for her to suck on rubber, but she LOVES it...it is squishy, and soft, and squeaks. Just watch her with it b/c the bottle is long and skinny...a bit dangerous to leave with the baby.
:-) It seems like teething lasts forever when it is bad...but one day those teeth will break through and the real pain passes.
Teething cookies, popsicles & Orajel. Try a little Motrin before bedtime that should help.
Here's a natural traditional approach: in Mexico they sometimes give babies green onions - the kind with the really wide round bulb at the bottom (not sure if the straight kind works the same). Interesting, huh?
Having had 6 children and 13 grandchildren, I can tell you that the best remedy I used were teething tablets, my children have used them with all their children. I believe you can buy them at any drug store, Hyland teething tablets, and there are several other brand as well, they're all the same.
Good Luck

I have just discovered Hyland's Homeopathic Teething tablets. I found them at Babies r Us. They have worked for us.
1. Hyland's Teething Tablets (you can get them at Walmart, or most drug stores. They are homeopathic.
2. Motrin (if the baby is not allergic, but only as recommended on the bottle and not every single day for a long time, short durations).
3. Cut up sugar-free Popsicles.
4. Chew rings (that go in the freezer or not).
5. Wet washcloths to chew on. They really like this and it works good for 2 reasons, it helps absorbs some of the excess drool and it's soft, but it helps break the teeth through the gums.
6. I let my 17-month-old have his wet toothbrush to chew on and his molar came in that way. I just have to keep an eye on him when he has it-that he's not running around with it in his mouth.
baby tylenol, oragel and frozen eggo waffles!!!

i love highlands teething tablets!!
gumomile oil from the natural health food store. It has chamomile to calm, clove oil to numb, and willow bark for pain releaf.
Homeopathic teething tablets have worked wonders for us. There are a couple brands available, but I think it's the Hylands brand that we've used. They dissolve quickly in baby's mouth and our 14 month old loves them!
HI!
Well, I wouldn't say these are "miracle" remedies, but they helped me with mine. Take several wet washcloths and freeze them. Let the little tyke chew on the frozen washcloth, and when it thaws, they still love to chew on them. Another is Hyland's Teething Tablets. They are all natural and they melt in the mouth. They make a whole line of remedies, and these did seem to help my little ones especially toward bedtime.
Highland's teething tablets, cammomile tea in a bottle with some honey, hugs, and those little net teethers filled with ice or apples.

The two best suggestions that work for me are: Teething Tablets (found at most grocery stores for about $5.00) and a cold washcloth that the baby can chew on. Also at night if the baby is REALLY fussy, put about 1/2 dose of baby mortin in the milk. It dulls the pain enough that it doesn't bother the little one and mommy and daddy can get some sleep. The teething tablets put 4-5 of them in milk or juice or water, they disolve quickly. They are all natural so it won't hurt the baby if this is needed several times a day. Pain is gone usually within about 10 minutes.
Hylands Teething Tablets. Homeopathic remedy. My mom used them on my sister when her first tooth turned out to be six teeth. I used them when I was 18 and my wisdom teeth were coming in, before I could get in to have them removed. The only things that took away the pain were Tylenol w/Codeine and Teething Tablets. I'm new to the area and don't know where to get them around here, but I'm sure some of the other moms do. My mom would also get Gerber Chicken Sticks (jars of little mini-hotdog looking things) freeze them individually, and let me chew on those.
There is something my pediatrician recommended called "Hyland's teething tablets". You can find them in the natural remedies aisle. you dissolve them in about a teaspoon of water and give the water to the baby. This really helped my son when he was teething.
Hyland's Teething Tablets!!! They last about 2-3 hours through the night for pain, but they calmed my little guy down right away. The best place to get them is Henry's, but I have seen them at Wal-Mart - it's just hit and miss at the bigger stores.
Hyland's Teething Tablets, chew on cold/wet washcloth
I just load them up with Motrin (whatever the suggested amount it)- it works better than anything else.
Hi S.,
Hyland's Teething Tablets (not available at Babies-R-Us, but everywhere else), work great, fast and are tiny tablets that dissolve in the little one's mouth, and they taste good!
Hope this helps
Hylands teething tablets! They work miracle's. You can purchase them everywhere. Hope this helps!!!
I ran a daycare for 10 years and learned some things that worked well with the teething babies I had. Here are a few suggestions: Have your friend try using ( if they have in her area) the homeopathic teething tablets for babies if I remember right they are Highlands or something like that, also some stores carry these really cool netted food things with a handle(in baby section)for the babies or kids to hold and she can put frozen fruit, little bit of ice, or some other types of things that are cold and then with the netted safety feeder the children dont choke, I loved those and the kids, babies do also. Sometimes a cold wash cloth for them to chew on helps also. Usually once the new teeth pop through they feel better, rubbing the gums help if they let you to help get teeth through. Tell your friend good luck!
Have they tried teething tablets? Those seemed to work well for my babies...better than oragel and stuff like it. You can get them at any drug store or places like Walmart or Target. The tablets are very small and they disolve instantly when they hit your child's mouth. They worked great for my kids.
There is a natural homeopathic treatment called Teething Tablets. They seemed to work for my son until the big molars came in. Then I switched to something called Hurricane Gel. It's basically Baby Oragel only stronger. It comes in all kinds of flavors and it seemed to work. Also, Motrin is a big hit in our house.
Good luck.
I agree with Lisa. Hermann's teething tablets have saved me during teething times. I have children ranging from 16 years to 11.5 months and they are truly a miracle to me. When teething is especially bad (fever, swollen gums) I use teething tablets and Tylenol (or any off brand infant pain reliever). Literally within minutes my babies are smiling again. Good luck!
Hyland's gel has worked for us.
My son loved a frozen washcloth(of course fully sterilized). It's easy for them to hold and not messy like frozen little teething biscuits or frozen bananas. I would keep a few in the freezer that way I always had a fresh cold one at my fingertips. It doesn't get too cold where they hold on to because their little warm hands will thaw that part very quickly. In a pinch with no frozen ones, a washcloth dipped in cold ice water will soothe their mouth as well. Hope this helps!
tell her that she can try teething tablets and they work very well
Hi S.,
Another vote for Hylands!! When she was teething, that's all we needed!! Our daughter is now 7 1/2,and she's used to getting her "white medicine".There are some great remedies that you can add to your mama bag. They REALLY work!!! Good luck!!!
Hyland's teeth gel, not the tablets, but the gel. You can find it at Rite Aid, not always at the super market. This stuff is great and if you use the gel it gives you a chance to massage her gums too.
What worked for my little one are Hyland's Homeopathic teething tablets. They taste yummy and they dissolve so nicely in thier mouth. You can get them just about anywhere! We were consistent and it helped her so much. We also froze bananas in the freezer (she loves bananas) and we would give her half a frozen banana to gnaw/chew on and it helped with temporary relief. Hope this helps.
rub chloraseptic on the gums (baby wont build up a tolerance to it like they do to oragel) and frozen bagels to chew on
Teething tablets get them at wal mart or stater brothers in th baby isle and also baby oral gel either the qtip ones or get qtips to apply the stuff and the BABY oral gel, store brand or name brand but I loved the night time one by the name brand it worked wonders for my 2 girls who are almost the same exact age! And lots of teether's froze or just in fridge with just water inside! Hope this helps if you need more help ask your pedit.
I always had good luck with the "Humphrey's" teething tablets. We also used frozen bagels, frozen teethers, and as a last resort, Infant Tylenol. I have heard of other people using a wash cloth that was dipped in water, and then frozen. Good luck!
I have a 4 year old and an almost 1 year old. We also used many of the suggestions already made, however I just discovered with my youngest that it helps to rub her gums with the rubber infant "tooth brush"; the little one you put on your finger and it has very soft rubber bristles. I was using it to brush her two teeth and gums with the baby toothpaste (flouride-free, safe to swallow) and we realized it helped soothe her gums when she was teething. I wasn't sure if it was the distraction of it or not, but nonetheless she seemed to like it alot. I'm guessing the little bristles massaged the soreness. Doing that followed with Tylenol or Motrin and Hyland's teething tablets helps tremendously.
When my girls were young (they are now 12) we squirted Camillia on their gums. We got it at a health food store. It seemed to help.
Hermann's teething tablets, behind the counter, are the best teethin remedy ive ever used. my babies are grown now, but i'll never forget how well they worked.
Hylands homeopathic teething tabs. you can get em at rite-aid or grocery. Target dosent have em. They will knock em out.
Hyland teething tablets are the best! All Natural and calms their teeth without numbing their whole mouth. You can find them at Target (behind the pharmacy counter - you have to ask for them) and at most super markets.
Good luck.
Hyland's Teething Tablets - they're homeopathic too.
hylands homeopathic teething tablets are great! also, a lot of babies like chewing on a wet washcloth... sounds silly, but it works :)
I love the combination of Disney's homeopathic teething drops and the Hylands Teething Gel to rub on the gums...I think it works but you just never know. At least these remedies are natural and it can't hurt. You can get the Disney's Teething Drops at Target usually in the baby section.
Hylands Teething tablets, Baby Bliss really gets her through the night without waking up in pain.
