Did any of you watch the Today Show this morning? I had JUST responded yesterday or the day before about my kids questioning me about why everyone's happy this guy died... This literally answered all MY questions about what to tell my kids... I thought it was perfect... what do you think?

This is a really good article. Very politically correct, if anything, a safe way to present a current issue.

I have always been a huge supporter of our military. I wanted to go into the air force myself but was told by the recruiters that my eyesight was too poor to be a pilot and I would end up on an administrative "detail" (desk job). Supporting our military has always been important to me and since it is part of my beliefs, my son sees and hears my attitude.

With that being said, I am raising my son to value human life. It is the most important thing in the world and the biggest step he can make to be accepting of other people of any race, religion, talent and spirit. OBL is someone we have talked to him about and he knows OBL is someone who never valued human life but his own, and OBL died b/c he resisted the people who are fighting to protect our lives and freedom.

Thanks for sharing.

I told my young kids about him. They asked how he died. I said he did terrible things and God thought it was time for him to leave Earth. My kids were happy with that explanation.

I didn't see the show and the link won't come up.
I told my kids, 13 and 10 who he was. They knew anyway.
I said I was happy our military was able to get this bad guy but that we should ever celebrate a death of another human being.

THen we had a great discussion about our Navy Seals. And how my 10 yo is signing up tomorrow. :o) and whether or not their older brother was there, no, he's safe here and is not a Seal.

My 16 yo has watched more news about it than I have, they run a continuous feed into the highschool for the History Class.

my husband was explaining to our 4 yo what happened because he saw his picture on yahoo and asked who he was. My husband explained about the seals and what they did. A while later he asked our son if he remembered what happened to this man. he thought for a minute and said "ummmmmmmm, the dolphins got him?" I think our kids are too young to understand, lol.
