Sunscreen for the Face

This question might be odd but here goes...

My daily make up regimen contains spf 25 supposedly in my powder. I have worn this make up for years and practiced the same facial skin care and normally never have problems with break outs.

However... with being out in the sun more this Summer, I also prefer to use spf lotion of some sort for my face for better protection. I have tried sunscreen specifically for the face only, oil free and all that good stuff, not supposed to cause pimples or clog pores... But my skin is getting broken out. I am confident the sunscreen is the problem since that is the only thing that is changing.

I am not trying to be vain or anything like that... I just really try to take care of my skin and I am getting married in the Caribbean in the winter... where... I will need to wear some kind of facial sunscreen other than my mineral make up powder.

What do you ladies use that doesn't cause pimples? I haven't had luck with the name brand "facial" specific sunscreen available at the store. Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

i don't know what kind of mineral foundation you use, but i use Avon's mineral powder foundation (loose) and also their "primer" that is SPF 15. I went to the beach last week and my shoulders and back fried but my face was perfect. It's a great foundation & primer and they're pretty cheap. I don't sell it, I just use it :)

My friend also started using a different mineral powder foundation that she says is spectacular (she's in the spa industry so she knows her products). It is like SPF 50 and is also waterproof! i didn't believe it until i saw it and it really is! but it's like $50 a jar. but if you buy foundation AND sunscreen, maybe that amount wouldn't seem that bad if you only have to apply one product! Message me if you want the info on it (I can't remember the name so I would have to ask her).

I use Oil of Olay facial moisturizer and jusreapply if I am out in the sun a lot--like the zoo or beach. It has spf 15, and there might be one for spf 30. I have not had any problems with breaking out due to this though I do tend to break out from too many sweets so I try to watch the junk on vacation and fun trips.

I use Neutrogena Healthy Defense moisturizer. It has spf 45 in it. I had the same problem with break outs from sunscreen and this is what my dermatologist recommended. I love it- I wear it everyday all year round. It's much cheaper if you can buy it from BJs or Sams.

Have you tried blue lizard face? It's really sunscreen, not a moisterizer, so it's not going to sink into your skin. It's the only one that doesn't leave me feeling greasy. Good luck.

I think it is awesome that you take such great care of you skin. Skin care is very important. I love Mary Kay skin care, and I am also a consultant with Mary Kay. There is a day solution that I use every single morning that contains SPF 25. There is also a moisturizer that has SPF 15 and a tinted moisturizer that has SPF 20. They are all very good, quality products and very affordable. The are hypoallergenic and non-pore clogging. If you'd like to know more about them, please contact me or look at my website www.marykay.com/cschriver. I would be happy to send you some sample to try and see if you like them before you purchase anything. Good luck in your search and keep taking great care of your skin.

I use the moisturizer/suncreen from my derm (neocutis) and use Jane Iredale pressed powder. I burn super easily and haven't had a problem since using that combo.

The ones that I like and you can find them here in USA are Elta MD tinted spf 41, Elta MD Clear spf 46. If you can get from Europe or the Caribbean, get one by La Roche Posay called Anthelios XL spf 50+ Extreme Fluid. This one is really nice.
For any questions regarding skin care, go to skintypesolutions.com and checl the forum. It's a great site and you can ask anything and get an answer

I use and love the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch. I use SPF 70 in the summer (because according to my dermatologist, no one really uses ENOUGH of the sunblock to get the listed SPF). My skin actually IS prone to breakouts and I never have them in the summer using this sunblock.

It leaves a little of that white sunblock haze when you first rub it in, but I usually wait ten minutes and then rub it again and it fades in... I have brown skin, if you are white, you might not even notice the haze.

Most days I don't wear makeup over it accept for mascara and and lip gloss, but when I do, my mineral powder goes over the sunblock very nicely.

Hope this helps.

Try Eucerin spf 30 daily moisturizer. It is only physical block-zinc and titanium diox.
Another great forum is on www.makeupalley.com-go to the skincare board and as your question. These ladies are very knowledgable on SS and are very helpful.

hello
I use skinceuticals... I have sensitive skin and so far, no breakouts.. but it could vary for everyone. also, bear in mind, sunscreen should be applied 30 min before you go out, this way your skin has a chance to soak it up..
but you may already know that. Additionally, skinceuticals has zinc oxide in it, BUT this type is creamy. I just find it works the best for me.
I have also tried natural ones such as David Wolfe's sunscreen brand.. and it worked although not quite as well..
best of luck

my regular neutrogena moisturizer has an SPF 15 in it. If I am heading out into the sun I put extra on, otherwise I just apply during my normal routine.
