Storage Ideas for Dvd's

I have a digital camera, as many do, and I store my images on DVD's. One disk holds an entire year of images. I've been storing them in slim jewel cases but have decided that this is no longer functional for me. I need them stored in one location where I can easily and very quickly have access to them and it needs to be archival quality since we are talking about digital images of my family.

If you store your digital images on disks, what are you using to store the disks in? A binder? Some kind of storage case? What is working for you? I'd love some ideas. The reason they need to be in one location is because I live in a hurricane prone area and I need to be able to very quickly leave with my disks without worrying that some got left behind during an evacuation. Thank you in advance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for your responses, I really appreciate the time you all took to respond. I DO have an external hard-drive, a terabyte, however, it is very important to understand that those devices can and do crash. My husband is a systems analyst and I know for a fact that those can fail, causing heartache to those who relied on them for storing precious photos. I have all of my images backed up on 2 disks, gold archival quality dvd's. It's impossible to know in this format that my images are more than simple images of my family. While I do not have a degree in photography, nor do I consider myself a professional, photography is my passion and I take it very seriously and so preserving my images in the best way possible for as long as possible is my biggest concern.

I will look for the binders that many of you suggested. That is exactly what I believe will work for my situation. Thank you so much!!

My husband bought these large zippered binders at a computer store that has pockets on each of the pages specifically for discs. I believe there are 9 pockets to a page and these binders can hold somewhere around 200 discs. They are heavy when full but fit on a bookshelf with no problem. And since they zipper closed, it keeps the dust out.

We also use binders. We have all of the DVD cases in a tub in the garage, but keep DVDs in special DVD binders. Much easier to access them this way and it doesn't take up as much space.

This doesn't directly answer your question but please consider an external hard drive! Ours is 2 te
ra bytes, about the size of a slice of bread, and fits in our fire/water proof box!

You can still put them on disc for easy tv viewing but you wouldn't need to be so particular about how you store them.

i buy cd case then start by yr lable them and then number the case, then i make a list and leave it on the computer so at anytime i can go and check or add a new disk, i use them for our moves and videos then i just store them in one of those plastic dresser drawer things in the office.
