Try and look for a Mom's club like MOPS or MoM's Club. I'm in MoM's club and it's awesome. I can't even discribe the support and friendships that you get from this group of Mom's. I'm not sure if there is a chapter in Shakopee, so you'll have to contact them and see. Here's the email address.

MOPS is great! Here is a link for groups that are close to you.

I highly recommend you join the Shakopee ECFE. That will put you in touch with not only other moms in your area, but other new moms with kids your child's age.

Here's the website to get you started: http://www.shakopee.k12.mn.us/comed/ECFE/ecfe.asp

I also went from having a job, to thinking my husband would stay home with the kids, to being the one staying home. It's been a hard transition, but I found all my "mom" friends through ECFE and that's helped a lot.

I live in Chaska, so if you get really desperate, you can give me a call and we can meet at a nearby park, too! =)

I took classes through our city's ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) program. Most cities in MN offer this. The class is about an hour long, once a week and usually costs around $100 per 12 week session. Nice mommy time, play time for kids, and even an early childhood expert there to help you along the way! The folks in class that I took with my son just a few months after he was born still get together weekly for play dates, mom's night out, and BBQs with the Dads. Really helpful, informative, and lots of fun!
Best of luck!
:) M.
