Hello moms
I have an issue that I just can't seem to resolve so I thought I would ask you.
While on a cleaning spree today, I moved out my microwave and discovered a large red stain on my countertop! It looks like Kool Aid or something. Anyway, I have tried and tried to scrub it off to no avail. I rent, so I have to get the stain off or pay for the countertop when I move. I really don't want to do that, so is there anything you suggest to remove it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, I have tried a "combo platter" of a lot of the responses here and slowly but surely the stain is fading. I think one or two more scrubbings should get it out once and for all. Thanks for all your great tips!

I've had great luck with 409. It usually gets out pen, marker, koolaid, etc. Let it soak and try it a few times. If it's a bad stain, the 409 should gradually reduce the intensity until it's gone.

I have used straight bleach, not only did it clean the stain, but it also cleans my nails. I use about a capful and just spread it around with my fingers, let it set for a couple of seconds and the stain is gone. This also helps with my nails, I have long nails naturally and polish them all the time, which causes stains. This helps whiten them.

Did you try SoftScrub cream? Also if ok to do a dilute quantity of bleach can sometimes lessen stains also itself.

Have you tried the Mr. Clean magic erasers? They pull up a lot of stuff. It may take several attempts to get it up. I got red food coloring on my counter are Christmas time, I used those and it worked. Soft Scrub with bleach may also help.

Good Luck!

depending on what it is, try 409...let it sit there a while. if it is koolaid, 409 should work.

Have you tried just bleach? Clorox cleanup is great for those stains especially if it is just kool aid.

Try good old fashioned bleach water. You may want to soak it. I've had that problem before. And it got it up or it at least lightened it to where you could barely tell it was there. Good Luck

Have you tried a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? Those tend to get stains off of my counter and table that cleansers haven't been able to. How frustrating...good luck!

Try Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser. I have not had stains like what you mentioned, but it does work wonders on other stains. I have used it to remove tarnished silverware and it came off without hard scrubbing. My sister used it to remove old paint that got stuck on her vinyl sidings on the side of her house. Came off without too much work. Its a white eraser you can get at stores for like $2. You get it wet, scrub, and it just erases stuff off. Works great for walls too!! Good Luck!

I'd try the Mr. Clean white pad-magic pad like previous poster stated. I don't know if it'll help or not.

When you tried rubbing it off, did you use a thick pasty mix of baking soda and water?

I had some stains (grease and coffee and food coloring) that I couldn't get off mine until my mom suggested that.

Just make up a paste....leave it on for a couple minutes then scrub it off.
