My nephew will be turning 5 this soon and he loves the above two figures ... I want to get him something just super special and wanted to know if there were any awesome ideas out there. I have never really purchased boy gifts before (I am the mother of two girls and just recently married into a family that has lots of boys).
I would appreciate any ideas that would guarantee a hit for his birthday.

If the little man loves spiderman, you may consider having "the real spiderman" make a special appearance at his birthday party. My little boy just turned 4 and he absolutely adores spiderman. I actually purchased the rental quality, authentic adult spiderman costume for my brother to wear to surprise my little guy. If you'd like to rent it ($50 for the weekend, with $50 security deposit until I get it back) or buy it ($150--they retail at over $350), just let me know. It was a HUGE success at my 4 year olds party back in March. He and his little brother who is almost 3 are still talking about how the "real spiderman" came to his party!!!

I have a 5 year old boy that loves Spiderman and Cars.
I bought him 2 darling shirts one of each that lightup.
Spiderman also has a web wrist thing that shots webs that he loves, and spiderman walkie talkies.
Cars has some great race tracks and lego sets that he also adores.
He never has had much inerest in Buzz Lightyear. And it seem his friends play with more spiderman and cars.

Are you having a party for the little guy? If you are, I have a ton of great ideas for a Spiderman party. I did a Spiderman party for my son on his 4th and 8th birthday and they were both HUGE hits. As far as gifts go, I got my 3 year nephew a Spiderman set that has the mask and gloves that shoot out water or silly string and a Spiderman costume. I also baught a "Spiderman training kit"... it has a DVD that teaches them how to act like Spiderman and it has some kind of mat and gloves in it as well. I gave him these gifts for Christmas and my sister says since then he doesn't want to be called by his name, rather he wants everyone to call him "Spiderboy" and runs around the house in full uniform all the time.
My son Loves Buzz Lightyear! I would recomend the Disney Store or Target. You could get him a Buzz backpack with lunchbox for school at the Disney Store? My son adores his that we got there. Also try Target for the Buzz car and action figures. You may see if he has Woody as well. They even have the remote control Toy Story car with figures. It is just like the one from the movie.
