Not sure what they have for 4 yr olds, but for educational gift ideas you might try the Discover Channel Store. I get emails from them all the time. Try this link for the latest sale.
I need to get a gift for a smart 4-year-old boy. My friend told me that he likes those hand-held electronic toys (possibly Leap Frog brand)? She also suggested books as a gift.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to get? I'm looking for a gift (or gifts) totaling between $20-30.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I need to order the gift sometime this week. Thank you!

There is a really AWESOME toy store that sells learning / educational toys in Southlake. It's across from Southlake Town Square next door to Central Market. It's called Learning Express Toys

I will NEVER shop for a birthday present ANYWHERE else! It's THAT good!
My sister makes these really cute Spy Bags that keep kids entertained for quite a while. She has rave reviews and many repaet customers. They are perfect for that age, (her children are 4 and 2), and even older kids love them.
Just thought I'd throw some things out there for you from the mother of a 4 year old boy!
My son loves...Spiderman, Cars (the movie), Buzz Lightyear. All the boys in his class seem to be right there with him on these. He also likes just about any kind of car or truck, especially remote control kind of things. Puzzles are good. Books are always good, especially with the above mentioned characters or with Blue, Diego, Backyardigans, WonderPets, etc. Found at any bookstore
All of this kind of stuff can be found at any toy store or Wal-Mart or Target.
