So What Are Your Kids Dressing up as Today?

Truth be told, I enjoy Halloween much more now as my kids are older. I can just gush over everyone's cute costumes and not fret about my own! I can actually relax, have a glass of wine, cook a nice dinner, have the kids wrestle with the dogs everytime the door bell rings.....

Still, I wonder what the 'in' costumes are?!

What can I do next?

My son who is two, is a cowboy, wearing daddy's old cowboy outfit with a horse we bought. My 3 month old daughter is a cowgirl, wearing my Cabbage patch doll's cowgirl outfit my mom made when I was little. So very special to the grandparents.

Some day I will be motivated enough to get us all coordinated for a theme... I was joking about Thundercats :)

My three year old is a butterfly, but she doesn't really like to wear the wings - so she is kind of a ballerina-ish thing since I put her in one of her sister's leotards and some tights.
My sever year old is Lt. Uhura, Communications Officer for the Starship Enterprise. It is kind of a different costume, but great fun when we run into a Trekkie! She and my husband spent the summer watching the original Star Trek series on DVD.

I don't know what's "in." I made my older son a dragon costume and my younger son is wearing the He-Man costume I made two years ago. Who knows what next year will bring, but I like making their costumes.

My 6 year old is Darth Vader. Long gone are the days of the cute costumes with him! When he was 1 he was an elephant, 2 he was a frog, 3 he was chicken little, 4 he was a Ninja and 5 he was a Clone Trooper. The costumes keep getting less "cute" and more "boy"! What fun!!

Our daughter is very girly. This year she is a bee, which shocked me. I thought for sure it would be princess yet again!

My 3 year 10 month old girl decided to be Jessie the Cowgirl, so by default, her little brother, 20 months, is Sherriff Woody, form Toy Story. I made their costumes, hand-pianted shirts and sewed little cow print vest and chaps, and then got cowboy hats and red bandana and a sherriff badge.

Unfortunately, my little girl came down with some stomach bug, and threw up, has a sore throat and fever today, too; and now we are not going trick or treating - we went to the Libary's Halloween Carnival on Friday and then went to my hometown and saw their grandparents and great aunts and uncles yesterday, in costume, so hopefully, they will not feel like they are missing something tonight.

mine is his favorite thing a cowboy with his favorite toys a cowboy hat a gun and a horse. :) but I have a feeling all his horses and cowboys will have to go trick or treating too in the bag cause they go everywhere with him. when its time to go bye bye he grabs an arm full of cowboys and horses to take with him. he has a whole sack full usually.

My 3 year old DD went as a dragonfly - looks more like a variation of a fairy-type costume with the wings and wand, but it also came with attennae on a headband and she loved the green color. At first she was saying she wanted to be a ladybug but then when she spotted the dragonfly one when I was looking on-line that's all she cared about - it's all I've heard about for 6 weeks, she never changed her mind!

I too love Halloween, and my girls are still little! My 7 yo went as a witch w/a light up skirt. Not very original, but it was a cool costume. My 4 yo was a pink poodle. I bought the costume, and doctored it up a bit. She was the hit of the night! They even took her picture for the paper! We didn't think we could top last year, when she was a cupcake that I made. That was a huge hit!

So I'm a little late but here's what we did. For school the oldest was Wonder Woman and the baby was a little lamb.

Then last night my husband decided he wanted to dress up so my oldest stayed Wonder Woman and my husband dressed up as the guy from the movie The Hangover, dressed my baby girl up as a little boy and put her in the front carrier and called her Carlos! It really was funny.
