Smart Phone? or No? (HTC Status?)

let me give you some background on myself mamas. Someday i will be that grumpy old person on the porch talking about "back in my day" I HATE change, and I loathe technology.
don't get me wrong....I'm savvy with it. I work on a computer all day, I have a laptop, etc etc....but stupid little things bother me. Like why is it necessary for my TV to have 8 different ways to watch the screen? and Why do I have to keep "upgrading" my computers to the latest version of Windows only to end up with quirks and more confusion, the old one worked just fine! and why to they keep making everything have a picture to explain it rather than a word? I'd rather have a list than icons!

which brings me to my question. My cell phone is starting to die, been dropped one too many times. I have a simple Samsung 767 slide phone. full keyboard. I text, I take occasional pictures to send via text, I enjoy making an mp3 customized ring tone from a song and loading it onto my phone to use. I don't play games, I don't go on the internet, I don't buy ringtones. My husband has had an I phone and now some fancy HTC smartphone. I'll admit...I make him and the phone do alot for me. find this, find that, check this, check that. So he has threatened that I will get a smart phone next. I have long acrylic nails too....so touchscreens and I don't work. So we looked at phones and I'm scared to death. I don't want a phone that I have to hold with 2 hands to text. I want a keyboard with actual buttons for typing and dialing. I don't want to lose any feature I have now. I don't want to have to charge it twice a day. and my husband wants me to have the ability to go online that i don't ask him to do it for me anymore.

Basically....If I'm going to "upgrade" I want to feel like I upgraded, not like I compromised...

Got any suggestions mamas? what do you have? what do you like about it and what do you hate about it?
oh...and I'm on the AT&T network and currently looking at maybe going with an HTC Status?

What can I do next?

I had an Android powered MyTouch Slide - best of both worlds. Full slide out keyboard & a touch keyboard, as well. I was resistant towards a "fancy phone", too, but once you see what you can get out of one, you probably won't ever go old school again. I actually downgraded to a prepaid phone to save money & I am ready to go back to an Android based phone already.

I suggest a Droid is the best of both worlds.

Well now is the perfect time to get an iPhone 4s. It's got a feature called Siri, and you can just tap the button and talk to it. I use it to make appointments, set a timer, text my husband, call people, look up directions, etc. Don't even have to use the keyboard. We both have a 4s, and we're with ATT.

If you get a Droid phone not only do they still have the pull-out keyboard, but you won't need to rely on your husband to find this or that, check this or that. Whether you have long nails or not, just the side of your finger or thumb is all you need to get the touchscreens to work for you. It takes a little bit to adjust to it just like anything else, but you'll never want to go back.

one word, IPHONE. But be advised, once you get one it will be hard to ever have another phone, they are amazing.

My personal cell is an LG Envy. It's basic and it's fine. I have the Droid X for work and love it! It's kind of bulky, but I have to have access to my email and e-calendar at all times as well as being able to create a mobile hotspot on the road.

My husband has the MOST basic phone, so he steals my work phone when he goes out so that he can "check and compare". When it's time for an upgrade, he'll be getting a Droid whether he wants it or not!

I love my Samsung Epic! It's touch screen, but also slides out for texting..perfect combination. And once you have a smart phone, you'd be surprised at how many apps you will actually use on it! I have a weight watchers tracker that is so much better than the one from ww; I just got an app that organizes my key cards - you know all the little discout cards you keep on your key ring...and so many more! LOL Your nails shouldn't really get in the way with the touch screen, because you use the pad of your finger to do everything.
good luck!

I love my Blackberry! Had one for about 6 or 7 years now. Email, internet, camera, buttons (not touchscreen). Battery doesn't die super fast and you can always buy extra battery if you go on vacation or something.
