So What Happened?

Well, I called my Doctor and he said that, probably not a yeast infection, it is just irratated. He said if she seems bothered by or if it doesn't go away in a few days to bring her in otherwise rub some antibactieral ointment on the area. Oh and one more thing.....vagina, vagina,vagina....thanks everyone....vagina

Are you breastfeeding? If you are and she has thrush or a yeast infection then you need to be treated as well.

BAbies very easily get yeast infections, which breed in warm moist environments, like a diaper. ANd she was just on antibiotics which can easily cause it. I would get some acidophilus, break open a capsule and get some powder on your finger and let her suck it off, that will help get some good bacteria back in her system, and call your doctor, who will probably tell you to use lotrimin or another antifungal on her privates to clear it up.

Take her in. They can give you something call nystatin topical powder. It worked great for both of my girls. It is RX so you do have to go into the dr. Good luck. We have gone through a lot of the stuff!!

First of all, you're a hoot :o) Vajay-jay :o) Every time I hear that I bust out laughing because it reminds me of Greys Anatomy episode where she's having the baby and tells George to quit looking at her vajay-jay.
Anyways, on the subject, I would take her in and have it looked at before it really starts bugging her and she gets crabby about it. You know how it is, and to be too little to scratch and have a diaper on it has got to drive a gal nuts.
Good luck,
J.

Yep. It could be a yeast infection. It could also be vaginosis, an infection of the vaginal tissues most likely caused by fecal matter. Because you can't know for sure, I would definitely take her to her pediatrician. She/he will be able to diagnose and treat it. Hope she feels better!

My 18mo old had a horrible double ear infection a few weeks ago. She was miserable with temps in the 104 range with chills. I had to get antibiotics for her. It was a one time dose. The infection took a few days to go away. A topical yeast infection looks like red dots. That can be cleared up by an ointment your doc can give you.

My daughter had a yeast infection when she was about 9 months old that looked like red bumps. Her doctor recommended a cream that you pick up at the pharmacy for it. My husband just talked with the Pharmacist and he recommended an anti-fungal cream that worked within a day or so. But, you should take her to the Dr. just to make sure it's not something else.
