Should I Cheat on My Hairdresser?

Ok i know this isnt a child related question but its been on my mind. I have been seeing the same hairdresser for the last 3 years. She owns the salon ( and is the only person currently working there) I get my hair cut every 4 weeks. I have a short style that looks really shaggy if I go more than 4-5 weeks. Last weekend I had an appoitment to get my haircut. She cancelled on me the day before and we rescheduled it for this past saturday. On Saturday I was all set to leave the house and my truck wouldn't start, and I didnt have any other way to get there, so I had to call & cancel. She is about to go out of town for the next 2 weeks. So i wont be able to get in until mid June...Allmost 8 weeks past my last cut. Im starting to look like a bum. My hair is too short to pull back in any sort of way but its getting so long and no matter what I do it looks like I have bed head all the time. Does anyone think she would be offended if I had someone else cut my hair now? I dont want it to be awkward the next time she does cut my hair.

I would call her and say, "I really can't wait til mid June, my hair looks awful! Can you recommend anyone who could give me trim to tide me over until you get back?" She may be able to squeeze you in before she leaves or at least then she'll know ahead that you're getting it done elsewhere.

I had the same hair dresser for 7 years and then I switched and am SO glad I did. I get the same cut from another girl I've known just as long, but at a nicer salon and I don't have to call her personal cell to get an appointment :). Totally fine to cheat on her :).

U shouldn't feel bad at all ;-)
I'm a hairstylist and twice I had to stop when I gave birth to my boys.. Some people waited for me some went somewhere else but when they came back it always made me feel good that they must like my haircuts more, hehe. Don't think twice about it, go try someone else and who knows you might b more happy with your hair and if not u can always go back!
Good luck,
A. ;-)

I'm w/Mom on the Go....it's okay to get your down by someone else.
It's not cheating. :)
Plus I know how hair can get when you have to go too long between appts especially when you have a short style.
Go get your haircut by someone else. It will be ok! :)

The bottom line is she provides a service to you. Like an employee. You don't owe her anything.

I think you are certainly within your rights to try someone new, something new, etc. without having to explain yourself to her.

Besides, it sounds like there have been extenuating circumstances, so I'm sure she'd understand you getting your haircut elsewhere.

I'm of the opinion that since I'm not a higher maintenance sort of person, I get my haircut when I need it, not always on a schedule, don't do my nails, and occasionally do (scoff) bottle color. My stylist knows this about me, and doesn't seem to mind. He just gives me fabulous tips when I do schedule time with him - after I get tired of cheaper cuts and bottle color.

I have cheated and gone back and cheated and gone back. I always feel guilty, but I go back right? And I am paying her right? My hair dresser works 3 days a week and never on a weekend. I have to take time off work or get a sitter to get my hair done (my hubby works nights). If I cannot get into her or can't take the time off, I frantically start looking for someone new and usually try some place based on a recommendation. I usually pay more, am at the salon longer and don't walk out saying WOW, sooo glad I did this. It's usually, like this is fine, but I will go back to my regular girl.

I would cheat and if you go back, simply say, it had been 6 weeks and I looked like a wreck, I couldn't wait 8 weeks to see you, so I tried someone else. If you go back, you can laugh it off and say, soooooooo glad to be back in your chair!

I think its understandable when shes not available when you can go, and she wouldnt be offended if you had to go somewhere else a few times. If you really intend to go back to her she will take that as a compliment and thank you for it. Its always good to have a back up just in case. Just as its always good to have a back up babysitter or daycare. What if something terrible happend to your stylist and she really couldnt cut your hair for months? Youd have to go somewhere. And if she started back at work and you decided stay with the new person, then its just the way it goes. But how fun for her to see you come back and then you can even tell her how much you like her better !! Be glad shes the only one in her shop. I had to switch between gals in the same shop and that was awkward. Happily the gal I liked best ended up moving to open her own salon and now I go to her without having to see the others. But really I think they understand that sometimes this happens.

Short answer ... yes, cheat on her ... it's all good. Plus you never know the person you find may be better or you may realize how great you have it.

I did once...my hairdresser was pretty ticked...she didn't say it, but it was all in her attitude.

Your hairdresser needs to understand you were in a pickle. Find another reputable hairdresser and get your hair cut. If your current hairdresser demonstrates any "offense", find another one permanently. Besides, sometimes I think a client & hairdresser can get into a rut with each other. Perhaps a new pair of eyes and scissors can bring you something new and different that you will like even better. Go get your hair cut!

You pay her to provide a service. If she isn't available to provide the service when you need it, there is nothing wrong with you paying someone else to provide the same service.
If you had a plumber you really liked, and he was out of town when your toilet backed up, would you feel guilty about calling a different plumber?
