I am a stay at home mom of 2. gracie is 4.5 and James is 6.5. We moved here in June of '06 and I still don't really know anyone. My husband is an Army Recruiter, so I see him very little. I am just looking to make a few new friends and have someone to talk to. I get pretty lonely and bored most days. Some adult conversations once in a while would be awesome!!! LOL... My son is entering 1st grade, but my daughter still stays with me all day. She is such a momma's girl, but moma doesn't know where she ends and Gracie begins. She really needs some more kids to play with and learn to let go of me a little.
I wanted to tell you about a website called www.meetup.com it is pretty neat and you are able to find people in your area. I just joined one of the playgroups for the Des Moines area!

I am a stay at home of two girls one 3yrs and one 15 months. My husband and I are orginally from the Des Moines area and are in the process or moving back from TN. My husband travels a lot for is new job and the friends we have do not have childeren. We are currently staying with my parents(altoona) and my husbands parents(waukee). We've moved twice since my oldest son was born, and I know how frustrating it is to be in a new place and not meet other moms you connect with. I don't know if you're in Urbandale or not or if you've checked out the Urbandale library, but they're starting registration for their fall story times next Tuesday (Aug. 28th). They have a beautiful facility, a fantastic children's section and story time room, and the children's librarians are extremely helpful and friendly. You can get more information on their website at www.urbandalelibrary.org. Depending on if any of the story times work with our schedule, I might be signing up with my almost-four-year old son.
