Hi,
I realize you are seeking the Rochester area, but this doctor also works out of Beaumont - either Royal Oak or Troy and I found her to be amazing for my son and I when I was expecting. I didn't care for the other group of doc's as they had religious music playing in the waiting room... it made me uncomfortable and I also didn't like the way I was treated when I miscarried. So, I went with my gut and left them!
I see Dr. Nancy Afr. She is in Troy. I can look up her number, but she was great and the staff was wonderful too~ all that was important to me as I am a first-time mom and that was a first-time full pregnancy. I also had my son early, so everyone was very helpful. I know some moms have had a negative experience at RO Beaumont, however with my son being premature, I could not have been more pleased with the care we both received. (Only one nurse in the night shift before my son was born was a bit snotty, but I wasn't going to let one nurse ruin my experience.)
In addition to the Beaumont Hospital and doctors... they offer the option to join a 'parent group' which is awesome for first time moms. It helps you get out with others in the same situation, you can have play dates and if you're lucky, the group can remain close for years. (I was not so lucky as our group didn't work out for us, especially as I had a bad autoimmune disorder hit me after my son was born.)
We even had the public nurse pop in our home to help with assessments for the first year on a monthly basis. It was really a great experience! :)
The only negative was I wish I had a doula with me to help me with my migraine I had when I was induced - I think it would have helped much more with the pains in my head and also my hips from the bed. (Or at least my old massage instructor to help with rubbing my feet so I could have avoided a c-section! LOL~)
Best of luck and congratulations on your baby! Get ready for a beautiful new life together! :)
