Hi everyone! I'm a new mom to a 10-month old and unfortunately, do not have many friends with babies. I would love to meet other moms in the area and bond over things that my single and/or childless friends can't relate to! Anyone part of a Mom's group they love?? Thanks :)

What can I do next?

There are mom's clubs all over the South Bay and LA. You can find out more about them by googling mom's club and the city you live in. I joined the Mom's club of Lakewood and made a lot of friends for myself and my children. It is practically free and all you pay is a nominal fee to get the newsletter and other administrative costs. The cost of mom's club is around $25 for the whole year. Trust me its worth it. We had activities planned just about everyday. Some times they would have Mom's Nights Out. That was great too. My kids made some really good friends and I knew which preschools were good and where to get my kids haircut.

Try Meetup.com – when I was in OC, I joined a group of moms who had kids all born the same year as my son. It's free to join, but not if you want to start your own group (but you can ask your members to help pay).

Now that we moved to LA, I started one because I couldn't find a group in my area (Westside) with kids my son's age (toddler). Check out the the LA M.I.L.K. group – they're pretty big and have tons of playdates. There's also another group in the Westside with more kids in your child's age range, for moms who are over 30 (I think they're called Westside Moms 30+).

There is also Bright beginnings and beyond which is located in Redondo beach. Its a retail store, lactation consultations, and a good all around mommy resource center. I took a mommy and me class through them with my first ( I am due in two weeks with the second) that was pretty good. but i've heard from lots of people that the south bay adult school, which the first poster mentioned is really good too.

You'll be able to sign up for a mommy & me summer class at South Bay Adult School soon. I met a lot of mom's through that.
I believe there is a South Bay Mom's group. I'm not sure where in the South Bay you live but there are a few other mom's groups like Manhattan Beach Mom's Group, etc. Start googling and you'll find info on it all.
Oh yeah...I also did stroller strides which is a workout w/ your child/stroller and other mom's. They do things outside of exercising too.
It's a nice area...lots of mom's and mommy/kid stuff to do.
Some advice...striking up friendships is kind of like dating. So if you see someone you are connecting w/ don't be shy...you need to set up a playdate or go to lunch/coffee, etc. And if you are in a group setting try setting up a group event like a happy hour, etc. These were all things that helped me get a good "momtourage" going.
