Seeking Mommy Groups

I recently joined Mothers and More and I love it! They have playgroups, mom's nights out, couples activities, family activities, a book club, and lots of other activities. You just join and attend the things that interest you. I feel like I'm in a community of moms now. There is a yearly fee, but I think it's totally worth it. Plus you can attend up to 2 meetings without actually joining to see if you like it. I belong to the Grand Rapids Chapter, but the group is in other areas too.

I'm in the same position as you. I get bored during the day sometimes, especially in the afternoons. Anyway, I also run a day care out of my home. I have a 4 year old daughter, a 2 year old son, and another son on the way (due March 24). I live on the NW side of GR. It would be great to have some adult conversations sometimes. I don't know of any mommy groups, but maybe we could start one if you are interested...

Hi B.! I also am a 25 year old mom. I have 2 wonderful twin boys that keep me busy! I live in the GR area also, Wyoming to be exact. I don't belong to any mommy groups, but if you hear of some, please let me know!

Have you tried googling MOPS? It stands for Mothers of Preschoolers and I know there is a group in our area.

Another place to check is your church, if you attend. They may have a mothers' group.

When my babes were small I relied heavily on my mommy network to get me through those long days. Good luck!

Hi there! Are you familiar with Meetup.com? There's a Grand Rapids Playgroup there and they meet every Thursday in different parts of town. It's good fun!

You might also try taking a mommy/me type class to meet other moms. Some great friendships are forged that way and it also benefits your child's social needs as well as stimulating her development (I teach Kindermusik and it is fantastic!!).

I am in a similar situation. Going to my classes is really my only contact with other people, but most of them are single, young and don't have kids. My husband and I have only been living around GR for 2 years and we haven't been able to meet many people yet. I would love to meet with a group.

I understand what you mean. I just had my first child, and plan on being a stay at home mom. I have been off of work since january, and really am finding that having no adult conversation around is hard. I love my husband and he can be good conversation, but at the same time, he gets boring. I live out by coopersville, and wouldn't mind starting up some type of meeting.
