So What Happened?

Thanks for your creative ideas! I ended up ordering bookmarks from an online store. I had ribbons printed with name and date, tied some jelly bellys in a piece of tulle and put a very tiny flower made out of sugar in the middle. I got the jelly beans from Costco and the other stuff from Metro on Belmont near Central. Everyone loved them and said it was nice they rec'd something they could actually use.

bubbles are always a hit. you can probably order through Oriental Trading or I think Michaels (maybe even Walmart) carries them in the wedding favor sections. I don't know if that's the type of favor your were thinking of, but you just can't go wrong with bubbles!

We just had our daughter baptized June 25th and I used the same favors as I did for my now 3 year old son. Individually wrapped chocolate crosses from www.chocolatevault.com. They're fairly inexpensive ($1.45-$1.95 each) and have great customer service. I also had a special message tag put on each that they put on for you. I had no problems with receiving my sons, however, this time since it was the middle of summer & one of those 100 degree days when delivered, I had a few that melted ~ even though they were cold-packed. I called them & told them about it and they sent me replacement ones within like 3 days ~ at no extra cost, no questions asked. They were very helpful and kind.
Hope this helps.

E.,
I got everything except the guest book at a party store at Touhy and Central (on the north side of Chicago.) I was really surprised by their selection of items for baptismal parties. I think it is called Party City. It is across the parking lot from Barnes and Noble, on the south side of Touhy.
For favors, I found some baby blue mesh containers for candy. We filled them with candied almonds--for the "bitter and the sweet."
Have Fun.

I have done the candy wrappers which cost approx 1.55 including the candy bar, a white chocolate cross on a stick, labels cost about $1.00 on bubbles for any kid and for adults the single serve wine bottle (they are $1.00 at Jewel). There is a place in Norridge called Candy Creations & More on Lawrence. They are great to work with and you can put a picture of your child on the wrapper or labels.

Hi E.,

For my daughter, I purchased pink & white netting circles filled with Hershey's Nuggets(in the gold wrapping - so good!), tied with a personalized ribbon (name, date, occasion) and hot glued a little cross (for friends) or small picture frame (for family). I purchased everything, with the exception of the chocolate (Jewel) at Metro Sales Co. on Montrose near Western. They have all kinds of nic nacs for wedding, baptism and other crafts.

My friend ordered cross picture frames online and gave that to everyone with a picture of her son. To save on money, it's good to give picture favors or special favors to family & God Parents and a little something to friends, because some never keep the pics or favors.

Good luck!
Barbara
