I am throwing a bridal shower for my soon to be sister-in-law and was wanting some ideas for a gift for the guests to take home. This is her 3rd shower and its only for my husbands side of the family and friends, so its not going to be huge and not too fancy. I am wanting something that I can put together myself and not too expensive. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
For a friends shower that I co-hosted, I went to the dollar store and bought different kitchen utensils (whisk, spatula, pizza cutter, kitchen scissors, etc.) and tied a little netting with heart candy (it was around V-day) and a ribbon. I had all the different ones in a basket and let people choose what they wanted on the way out then gave one of each to the bride. You could even do center pieces (if you have to) by putting the different items in a simple flower pot.

My favorite shower gifts that I love are little sented candles wrapped in tulle and you can tie flowers, rings, or bells, or something in the string that holds the tulle closed.
You can get most of this stuff at the dollar store. So cheap yet if you take the time and do it nice it is a neat gift. You can buy the color candles to match the colors of the wedding or do white candles and the tulle can be the color.

There is a company called Baking for the Taking. I orded a birthday cake from them and OMG it was the most heavenly cake I ever ate. I met them at the Farmers Market on Thursdays at Eli's Cheesecake Outlet in Chicago. They make really nice decorated cookie cutouts. That is always a nice idea because then the guest have something to eat instead of a knicknack. Have a cookie cutout of a wedding cake or wedding bells. That always looks so pretty in a cello bag with a pretty ribbon that coordinates with the wedding color. The owner is a pastry chef so she knows what she is doing. If interested their email is ____@____.com.

I recently threw an informal baby shower for a friend and I ws kind of in the same boat. I wanted something cute/nice without spending a ton of money. I went to Target and they had little buckets that I simply filled with candy. The guests seemed to love it. I found these tiny little babies that I glued to the buckets. It turned out really cute.
My original idea with the buckets was to fill each with a packet of wildflower seeds but who knew they don't sell seeds in the middle of summer!
I did find this website though which I thought was really unique and I would have purchased my favors from them but I didn't have the time to wait for them to be mailed.
Check bath & body works -- sometimes they have a 3 for $10 on fun stuff like scented hand sanitizers, lotions & that kind of thing. Might be fun! Also, I always forget to check hobby stores like Michaels who seem to have great & cheap ideas!

My daughter was just married last month, so I am familiar with
bridal shower stuff. For one shower, we found scented candles that looked like small coffee cups. We put coffee flavored candies around the cup and tied it up in tulle with ribbons. They were beautiful. Another shower favor was clear
plastic hearts filled with candy and wrapped in tulle with
ribbons. Small charms were added to dress them up. A third
idea is to type a favorite sugar cookie receipe on receipe cards and attach a heart shaped cookie cutter to the card with
ribbons. The ideas are endless, pick something you will enjoy putting together. There are several websites where you
can buy the supplies you need, or try Michaels Craft Stores.
Good luck and have fun.

Hi. I recently went to a baby shower and thought that it would work for a bridal shower too. When I first arrived they took a picture of me with the person of honor (with a digital camera) and then when everyone began leaving she passed out the printed picture that was taken at the beginning put into a plastic frame with a magnet on the back with a pretty ribbon tied on.
Just an idea...good luck!

For my wedding shower, I found really cute glass frames. I used 5x7 ( i think found them at the dollar store) but you can use any kind of frame. I worte my THANK YOU note/card printed it out on my computer and put them in the frame. They have a gift and their Thank you all in one. This way I didnt have to worry about thank you cards after teh shower. My cousin did this for her baby shower. I did them on card stock not plain paper, it was marbled and a decorated the edges.
It will releive the stress of thank you cards on the bride
Hope it helps

I like the heart shaped cookie cutter idea - "cut out for love". You can buy just the cookie cutters at Michaels' or somewhere for about 50cents then print out "cut out for love" and the bride & groom's name and tie on with ribbon. Or buy them. http://www.favorfavor.com/page/FF/PROD/4691?cid=froogle

We have done home made bridal shower favors for all of the kids in our family. Have done bath salts in a jar (have a pictures of these). Bought everything bulk. Found a site that sells bulk bath salts...you pick the color and scent. I matched color to dresses of bridal party. Also bought containers in bulk then ribbon also matched dress color and I made my own labels on computer. Have also made cookie mix in a jar... use wide mouthed mason jars. Printed baking info and couples name and marriage date on labels with hearts, and matched ribbon and fabric for top of jar to dress colors. Also did bath sponge and scented soap in organza bags in color of dresses, made own labels and put "From Becky's Shower to yours". Also did...Wooden spoon and tied potpourri wrapped in tulle & flowers(once again color of dresses)in spoon area. Made my own labels. Many sites online for anything online to save $ and get the stuff less expensive. Contact me if you like any of these ideas and I can let you know where I got the stuff. Always liked making things that were home made and "useful".

I just went to a baby shower and this idea could be for a bridal shower....it was so cute. The take home gift was a small jar of honey w/ a personalized label. I know it's corny but it could read something like ....Did you hear the buzz....(so and so) are in love and they make a honey of a couple! Then just add a few lines: (Couples's names first and last, Bridal shower, date) Then another line...thank's for coming! Or you can layer a canning jar with a recipe for soup or cookies...with just the dry ingredients (you can find a bunch of recipes on line) and attach the recipe card to the jar and the guest will just have to add a few (wet or liquid) ingredients. It's a cute touch too. Good Luck!

hi T.,
i went to a bridal shower last year and they gave out cookie cutters in the shape of a heart with the brides favorite cookie recipe in a white mesh bag. no muss no fuss, and everyone can try out the cookie recipe. to me it was cute and inexpensive. the recipe was typed on little white cards and had the brides name on it, example: AMY'S SUGAR KISS COOKIES. i thought it was different and i've been to a lot of showers! or a cd of the bride and groom's favorit songs, just a few. if you know someone who burns cd's. you just have to buy the cd's and the plastic cases. you can decorate the cases's yourself. hope this helps.

Hi T.! Sounds like you normally have your hands pretty full with working full time and raising 2 little ones! Whew! I would be happy to put as many goody bags together as you need. I did this for my soon to be Sis-in-Law's shower last week. As a Mary Kay consultant, I love meeting new people and helping women like you! So I have lots of great samples I could put together for you. I would even ship for free or drop off to you if you are close by. What I did for the last shower I attended was to put a Mineral Color sample card (it includes 3 eye colors, cheek color and lipstick)and a Satin Hands sample and some candy in a little bag with some sweet treats. If this sounds like something you would like, then I would be happy to do this free of charge! You can email me personally or message back ____@____.com
Love to help!

If you have a cd burner on your computor (and know how to use
it!) it is really fun and special to make music cds for your
guests to take home. For a bridal shower you can put on songs
about "love and marriage". I have also done these for
my sons birthdays (with kids music), baby showers, xmas...
everyone really enjoys getting them. You can buy the cds and
hard jewel cases at an office store. For the cover of the
cd case you could xerox a picture of the bridal couple.
Another idea is to find cute little picture frames, put in
a copied pic of the couple, and then guests can take home and use for their own photos.

I just threw a shower for my sister, who's "addicted" to Lip Smackers lip gloss. So I bought a bunch of those in a wide variety of flavors for her shower... worked out to be less than $1 per guest, which was right in my budget. I took them out of the packaging and tied a ribbon around each one for a tag with their names and wedding date.
