Does anyone know of a peditrician that is amiable toward the Sears method of vaccinations? They also need to be a Dr. that accepts AllKids insurance. We have tried a Dr. in Libetyville and Mundelein and both of them are pretty hostile to the idea. We are in Mundelein and can go to Barrington, or any of the northern suburbs (Lake Villa, Antioch etc.) Actually anywhere is ok if they will accomodate us.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank everyone for your help. We have a few Drs to try calling. I think the Drs on Allkids insurance just want to get patients in and out asap and dont want to deal with these issues.

I was given the name Dr Elvove in Libertyville-a recommendation from another mom. I don't know if he takes AllKids. I was thinking of switching my kids to him from Lake Forest Peds.
When my son because ill with GI and immune problems at age 3+ after a flu shot (and yes, also regressed into full blown autism), I took him to Dr Elena Koles in Northbrook. I don't know if she does AllKids, but she definitely is cautious about vaccinations. I am now taking him out of network in WI for ongoing treatment of his heavy metals, GI and immune problems because of their severity and the speciality of the WI clinic.

We have Beckerman and have delayed our shots with him, and spoke to him about that before our son was born when we interviewed many practices. His practice of four doctors is wonderful. They have a sick and well waiting room and the wait is never long. Everyone in the practice is super nice, they are out of Barrington. I feel bad the mom below had a bad experience with the practice, ours has been nothing but wonderful and I have delayed shots that my son has gotten. I also second the person who said Dr. Elvoe out of Libertyville. The only reason we did not choose him is because he is the only doctor in the practice, and will be retiring shortly, he has never said this, but I am guessing he is in his mid 60's. If you don't mind going to a practice such as Dr. Elvoe, it sounds like that may be the fit you are looking for. Good luck :)

I know from experience that Beckerman's practice will kick you out if you delay or refuse vaccines. :(

There are tons of doctors in the area that are okay with delayed vaccinations. You can PM me for more info. Dr. Sears' site has some, too. Did you try Minkus in Skokie? We used him at first and he is AWESOME. SUpportive of breastfeeding, no circ', co-sleeping, the works. He's a great ped.

YOu can also go to Mothering.com in the Finding Your Tribe Forum and ask there.

I will give you the name of my pediatrician if you send me a private message. Just click on my name. I'm assuming you tried Dr. Elvove in Libertyville? He's usually fine with delayed vaccines...

Also, there is a Dr. Michael Reilly in Lake Zurich that should be okay with all of that... don't know about the insurance, though.

The only one I know on Dr Sears site is far from you (Belvidere area). Have you tried a family practice physician, instead? I am surprised you got some resistence. I had always thought if you went in with a detailed schedule, a doc would be ok. Dr Sears is pretty well known in his field, afaik.

With my kids, I had my own delayed schedule. Basically, only one vax at a time and then which order I wanted them done. I didn't ask for any to be separated, but the combined ones were done alone. I never had any problems from the ped. We see a ped in Barrington, Pediatric Care (drs. Beckerman, Lockhart, Baggio). They are right next to Good Shepherd. Maybe you can call a few and ask the doc head of time if they are receptive to a delayed schedule and if they take All Kids. Then, you don't have to waste your time bouncing around, if not. Good luck!
