My daughter goes to Childtime at 8 mile and Halsted. She's been there since she was 5 months old. We have no complaints!
I am having my first baby in July, and need to return to work after my 12 week leave. I am EXTREMELY hesitant about putting my very young baby into any kind of daycare setting and am looking for someone or some place that is reliable, nurturing and reasonably priced. I would also consider a nanny as well. Thanks!!

Hello there,
Where abouts do you live? I run a small in home daycare in White Lake. I currently have an opening for a newborn. I have 3 children of my own so your child would be the only daycare child and would get the same treatment as I give my own. I like to keep it small so the children get more one on one. In the Fall when my son starts school I will have one more opening. I am licensed with the State of Mi. You can review my file on their website.
Dear H.,
I would like to recommend to you the person that has been caring for my young family for 5 years now. She lives in the Kendallwood subdivision, Farmington Hills and now has a very, very small licensed childcare in her home and is one of the loveliest people I know!! She has taken care of my children while I worked as a Labor and Delivery Nurse, and as a Music Together teacher. She came into my home when my youngest child was an infant and I have sent both of my children to her home daycare, where I have personally experienced her wonderful abilites with new babies. SHe is flexible and reliable and very reasonably priced. SHe truly loves children! Please e-mail me if you are interested and I will give you her telephone number. She would meet with you and your husband before the baby comes.
Best of luck to you!!

I have to tell you I felt the same way. After looking and looking I finally found the perfect in-home childcare and I wouldnt take it back for the world! My daughter started when she was 6 weeks old and left for preschool when she turned 4 in August. I found them the same way you are looking. The place is called Kids on the Block and you can contact Dawn McKinney at ###-###-####. I cant tell you the difference I felt in sending my daughter somewhere that she was brought up in a truly loving environment. These women loved my child like she was their own. If you call Dawn tell her that A. (Kylah's mom) referred you. The price is $165/wk and diapers and wipes are included. When baby is old enough for table food all meals are included as well. They are located on Independence approximately Middlebelt and Grand River. Good luck!
I worked in a daycare center when I was in college. I now have a 14 month old daughter of my own. I did not put her in daycare. We have a nanny that comes to the house to care for her. I do not like day care centers for infants and toddlers. The state says taht 4 infants can be cared for by 1 caregiver. It is impossible for 1 caregiver to give one on one cuddling time to 4 babies.
I would look for a nanny to come to your home until your child is at least 1 to 2 years old. After that age kids to benefit from being around other kids and the structure of a day care.
A good place to lookf for a nanny is craiglist.com
A nanny will be more expensive than a day care center- but if you only have nanny for a year or so it is not a big deal. I looked at several day cares - the one I liked charged $50 a day. We pay our nanny $10 an hour and we have her 8 hours a day. so for 30 extra - we dont have to drive my daughter anywhere and nanny does some household chores also..
for day care centers/home day cares check out the michigan.gov website. click on online services.. then a coupleof more links till you find the search for licensed child care providers.
Have you thought of an au pair? I have had au pairs for 9 years and I love it. I am also a coordinator for the program as I like it so much. It is very nice having the convenience of someone living in and the flexability, plu your little one won't be sick all the time. Email me if you want more info ____@____.com
Good luck! S.
I used to work at a daycare center called JTOTS. It is located on Halsted btwn 11 and 12 mile roads. I have always said that if I had to send my kids to daycare I would send them there. I'm not sure how much it is. I believe it's kind of pricey, but worth it. It is VERY secure and clean. I've worked at a chain daycare as well and it was very good too, but this one is leaps and bounds better. Each room is closed off from the other and has double sided mirrors so that the parent can check in on their child or caregivers and not be seen. I hope this is helpful. Good luck!
I was very hesitant to leave my daughter at daycare also. She is now 16 months and doesn't want to come home, because she has so much fun there. She attends Northville first care. It is located on 8 mile and Taft, which is not too far from Farmington. The phone number is ###-###-####. As far as price, it's a little bit higher than other daycares, but I feel very comfortable with her there. My nieces also attended Northville First Care. They loved it!!
My girlfriend uses JTOTS on Halsted, just South of Hills Tech Drive (between 11 & 12 mile) and has been VERY pleased. Her oldest just started Kindergarten this year and was sad to leave. Her youngest still attends JTOTS. I also checked them out - their security is good, they have a great big fenced in play yard and their rates are reasonable. JTOTS philosophy is to parent like you do - you'll get complete updates on what your child did all day, etc.
