Seeking a Reputable Tattoo Artist

I don't think people with tattoos are trashy. I'm thinkin' about getting one as my 37th birthday gift to myself. By the way, I'm also a professional career woman who lives in a very affluent area. So thank you for posting this question, because I need some suggestions also.

Mike Tidwell and Mark Thompson at Obscurities is where you want to go. I have known Mike for 6 years now, and wont go anywhere else. Their shop is the cleanest shop around and they are very careful and clean when setting up and tearing down. Both of those artist have won several awards like number one portrait artist etc. I like them because the atmosphere is relaxing and they don't act like jerks or like they are better than you.
They are right off of oaklawn.

I realize you're in Dallas, but Mike Bernstein in Mesquite is the guy. My husband had a full back done and after the work and a friend had a sleeve done. Well, after Mike was done a couple of their friends and wives went and had work done too. Mike is awesome with an idea and if you let him run with it... WOW. Should you choose him, let him know that M., Steve and Jack say HI.

Alot of people recommended cat tattoo in addison to me, but they were complete jerks. We went in and tried to make an appointment and they said they were too busy, and to call back later. We called and made an appointment for later that evening and when we got there, they said they didn't have enough people/were still too busy and that they couldn't do it. They were really rude about it. we ended up going to Skin Art gallery at Midway/Beltline and they were soooo nice. My sister and I were getting matching tattoos, and Lou did them. He was great. A friend got one on her back (can't remember the guy's name). They stayed late for us, and were very reasonably priced. I was a little hesitant at first, b/c I'd never heard of them, and didn't know what to expect, but I will definitely go back there for my next one.

I highly reccomend Cat Tattoo in
Addison. It is located on Beltline and the tollway area. It is a small shop, but I found it to be very clean and the people there are very nice. The artist who did mine is no longer there, but I saw the work of the other artist and it was beautiful. Take what you want with you cuz they dont do clip art, everything is original. They are great. I got mine at Skin Art Gallery in Addison too. I can't remember the guy's name that did mine, but I know it started with a T. He was really good. I'm getting another one in a couple of weeks, and I'm going back to him.

My brother Josh is an artist at Saints & Sinners in Carrollton. The shop is really nice & ofcourse my brother is, in my biased opinion, super. :)

I went to Mark Thompson of Obsecurities. He is great to work with, listens and did a great job.

He is not in North Dallas. He is off Oaklawn in downtown Dallas. The studio is very clean and professional but it is not a ritzy salon type place either.

Great question - I want to get one too. I don't think it's trashy at all.
