Does Anyone NOT like Tattoos on a Woman?

Personally, I do not like tattoos on a woman, funnily enough I DO like tattoos on a man!
I was wondering if it's an age related thing, I am nearing 40, so I am a little older.
So... How old are you, and do you like tattoos, on a woman.
I don't mean to offend all the wonderful ladies out there with tattoos - its just a personal preference!

What can I do next?

I don't have anything against tattoos on anyone. I have one that I got almost 25 years ago (I'm 50). I don't like all tattoos on all people. But I don't like everyone's hairstyle of choice of clothing, either. And none of their choices are for me to judge.

Don't want to be rude - but why does anyone care? Why should it bother me if the woman next to me is covered head to toe? It doesn't mean that she is a bad woman, mother, wife, sister, friend, citizen, etc.

My mom got her first tattoo at almost 50!!

My baby sister has a few, my brothers both have some. I think my older sister, my dad, and myself are the only ones in my family not inked. I'm not because I'm a baby with pain. And I change my mind too much :).

I'm 64. Though I have been wowed by a few very well-done tats, I generally don't find them very attractive, especially on calves, hands or necks, especially on women.

They always look like varicose veins or wounds to me at first glance. And they often look like mistakes at second glance. But I'm an artist, and I've seen far too many poorly-done tats that I would never find any excuse to display in public.

I personally don't like them on either. I don't understand it at all. My husband has one tattoo he wishes he could get rid of (although it's not offensive at all.) In my youth I went to get tattoos several times and chickened out, and bought really nice shoes instead....now I am grateful that I have some really nice shoes, and no tattoos.

Hmm, interestingly worded question AND I'm surprised that you are actually getting some people that admit that they don't find tatoo's attractive, i was starting to think this whole site was tattood...people.

a few months ago i would have said, that no i don't like them. Generally on men i'm a little more accepting of them, than women. Although neck ones look so hardcore painfull that they make me cringe. In all honestly if you want to do what ever to your body as long as it's covered up by clothes and i don't have to see it when you bend over and half your #$$ is hanging out or when you lean forward and half your breast rose is exposed, then i don't care. LIkle i said i just don't want to see it.
BUT now that i'm addicted to pinterst I've seen some very very lovely delicate ones that are just beautiful.
STill not for me, and probably not what i want to see on my attonry, cardiac Dr, morgage lender, realestate agent, gynocologist, or kindergarten teacher etc. but in a descrete place i might be able to appreciate their beauty, as long as they really are beautiful.
Sorry when people tatoo picts of their kids or other loved ones on their back or chest.i just think those are ugly.

My DIL's friend is a tattoo artist, and she does some beautiful artwork.

But I have very mixed feelings about tattoos. Sometimes they seem to clash with the person's outfit, and they're distracting. Perhaps distraction is the word in my mind. When I see a woman - or a man - with tattoos, I find myself looking at their pictures. But I don't bother to look at the people. Would I want people to look at my pictures or would I want them to look at ME?

That said, I have tattoos. No one sees them but my husband. They're not very artistic. They are two little dots - from when I had radiation therapy after breast cancer surgery; they needed to have an exact way to "line me up." But hey, a tattoo is a tattoo, so I figure I'm in style!

I have 6 tattoos personally & like them on men. However I like them in moderation only, not entire back or arm or leg ones. Please nothing on a face or neck. I enjoy having mine but don't feel the need to show them off everyday. In normal clothing none of mine show. Hubby likes mine but has none.

I don't like them on men or women and especially dislike them on teenagers. I wish the sports stars wouldn't get them because it just encourages kids and adults to go out and cover their bodies with things that will last a lifetime and may be a hinderance to their future success. Not everyone can be a star and will have to make a living in spite of it.

I have two small tattoos. A small bird on my shoulder and a small cat on my hip. I like them both.

I don't care for heavily tattooed people of either sex. No face or neck tattoos or huge tattoos. Although, I've seen some incredibly beautiful whole body art. These people are living, breathing masterpieces.

When I got my bird tattoo (hummingbird on my shoulder), a woman was getting a Winnie the Pooh tattoo on her upper thigh. I had to laugh. Can you imagine her grand kids saying, "Hey Grandma, lift your skirt and tell us the story of Winnie the Pooh!"

I wasn't going to respond since this is a few days old, but after reading someones response about the overweight woman (basically saying that tattoos only look good on a skinny woman)..I have to add my 2 cents. I am not what society would consider "in shape"..but I have tattoos. I get compliments on my ink quite often. I love my ink...each one has a lot of meaning for me. I think tattoos on women are fantastic. I dont understand how people see ink on a man as attractive, but on a woman it's repulsive. Weird. I'm a heterosexual, married woman, but I think women are beautiful..with or without tattoos (no matter what size, sheesh).

However I sometimes wonder if someone ever clues them in that after ten years or so... they don't look so great anymore. I mean we're in our 30's, skin is getting saggy and colors are fading... I mean I loved it when they first got it, but I wonder what it will look like as they continue aging...

I think like any other style taste, some people can rock it well, others can't, either way, I don't mind them. It's like fashion taste. No one else's business and not nice to criticize. My husband's whole body is covered in tattoos from world renowned tattoo artists from all over the world (touring musician for over 20 years). I have none. I never say anything negative about tattoos, and he never says anything negative about boring bare skin. I think we both don't mind ether way. Some of my female friends have beautiful ones, and their overall style really works with the tattoos, but I don't think they would work on me, and I'm too bad at making permanent decisions.

i think a tastefully done, artistic tattoo on a man is terribly sexy. as a heterosexual woman i dont' have much of an opinion on tattoos on women :) but i have nothing against them. i think that a LOT of women of my generation (i am 34) are going to look and feel pretty silly in their old age. there is a lot of "OVERDONE" with tattoos these days. what it is, where it is, etc. yes, if they are really thought out and personal that is one thing. i have a dragon holding the earth on my hip (high up, so no one sees it but me and my husband) which represents my protective feelings towards my family, when we went through a really rough patch. on my upper shoulder i have my son's name surrounded by stars. these are both VERY personal and i took years to design and decide on both. i adore them as part of myself. i would never just get a butterfly or something tribal or whatever. but as far as what i "prefer", i guess i feel to each their own. i'm not a big fan of huge gaudy ones that are in my face and unavoidable when you look at a person. on men or women. i don't feel its appropriate to have that out in peoples' faces in every situation, so to me it = taste and responsibility if they are more subtle and classy. so that to me is an attractive thing.

36. It depends on the tattoo. Usually not so much, but it's not my business. If it had an actual meaning and wasn't trashy or "lame", it's one thing. But I've seen more that didn't work than that did. I do like tattoos on a man more. Again, it's more about the art, where, and why. But I do prefer them on a man. But is that about the tattoo, or more than I just prefer looking at a man anyway? (haha!)
I'm 36.
I DID want a tattoo when I was younger (about 8 years ago) but my husband, then boyfriend, was like "I can't tell you what to do, but I seriously don't like tattoos". I didn't really care too much about his opinion, thinking he'd get over it, but I change so much over a few years that I knew better than to commit myself to something that couldn't wash off or be taken out. (I've had lots of piercings over the years, but can remove things as I feel like it----I like that better for myself).

Funny....I was just thinking about tattoos and googled to find this question. I see no purpose in having tattoos..and I think on women they take away from the beauty of the skin. I gave consent for my daughter to get her first one before she was 18....and now years later she has a million of them...;) Some tattoos are very creative, sentimental, expressive...and some look like a hot mess. If I had been a Bible reader years ago, I wouldn't have let my daughter get one - Leviticus 19:28. I used to think I was a good mother....good woman....boy, was I wrong.

I am 43, and I have never had any fascination with them. I have plenty of friends who had them done when we were in our 20s. I just never cared to do it and now I am glad that I didn't do it "just to do it". In fact, I don't find them attractive at all. No offense to any of you ladies who have them--I don't think it affects my opinion about you or your mind a whit, but I just don't like them. I think God made our bodies pretty attractive in their own right, and tattoos do not accentuate their natural beauty. Makeup I am fine with (but not when you look like a clown, that too, I think does nothing to emphasize natural beauty of man/woman). Jewelry I am fine with, but again, I don't wear or really care for gaudy jewelry. It draws attention away from the natural beauty that is there to focus on the object rather than the person.
I don't care for tattoos on men either. It isn't gender specific to me. If you really like the art itself, then put it on canvas and mount it on the wall to appreciate the art. I, personally, just don't think it is appropriate to put it permanently on the human body.

There comes a point (for me anyway) when it becomes all about the artwork and the person themselves is just a side note to the art. I'd rather appreciate the person, than someone else's art on that person's body.

Again, NO OFFENSE to those of you who have it. I know some of you do, and I think you guys are awesome and I love reading your responses and questions. We'd probably be friends in person, too. I just don't care for tattoos. And I would never (and have never) say to a friend of mine "Why would you DO that?!" They must have their reasons and they are theirs and that is fine. It isn't for me to choose for them. Kinda like I didn't have my daughter's ears pierced when she was a baby... I wanted HER to decide if it was something she wanted. And she decided at 10 that she did. So we went and did it. Will I encourage or stay silent in guiding her on the topic of tattoos? No, I will tell her what I think, and will not allow her to have any while she is a minor. After that, it really (REALLY, legally) isn't up to me what she does. I will love her no matter her choice on that subject. Same for our son. But I hope they choose not to have them.

I think it depends on what they are. I know a gal with Winnie the Pooh on her foot, and a turtle on her ankle and so forth and I go "eh, not for me." But I see other things that I do like - intricate designs on their shoulder or something unique, maybe a neat looking angel on their back and go "oh wow I like that. She looks awesome." Butterfly - eh no thanks. Tribal design on their lower back - too common and something everyoone seems to have.

So , I'm mixed on this one.
btw - I'm 31 and have no tats, but sometimes wish I did.
