I am currently 5 weeks prego with my second child. I was just curious as to when most of you all started showing on your second. Some of my close friends started showing at only 10weeks and others not until 5 months...
Hey C.! Congrats on the second baby! Babies are so fun! I have Three girls all under the age of 4 and my youngest is 1 month. I would say that it all depends...I began showing with my first child at 14 weeks, with my second child it was probably closer to 20 weeks and with this last pregnancy I think I was closer to 25 weeks pregnant before others really began to see and really for me to see. It could be that with this last one I still hadn't lost all of my baby weight before I got pregnant...I hope this helps! Best of luck with this pregnancy!

After the first one I started showing earlier, too ... and now I always look about 3 months pregnant! Is there is a possibility you might be off on the dates?

I'm currently pregnant with my second child and didn't start showing til almost 5 months!! Everyone I talked to told me I would start showing the minute I found out I was pregnant--apparently that's not totally true! Congrats on the pregnancy!!

Congratulations! I am an OB/GYN nurse practitioner, so I hear this a lot. Most mothers will state that they showed sooner with the 2nd than with the 1st. It will vary for each mother based on her physical build and musculature. The more abdominally fit you are, the less likely you are to pooch out quickly. For me, I moved into maternity pants first with the 1st and into maternity shirts first with the 2nd. Still, I was only 2 weeks faster with my 2nd. I carry totally differently, but there are no studies to suggest gender based on carrying height.
I wish for you a safe, happy, and healthy pregnancy!

I think that most people start showing earlier with their second (and any subsequent) pregnancies. My 2nd is about to turn 17, but I remember feeling like I was showing as soon as the pregnancy test was positive! LOL

I think I was about 10 minutes pregnant when I started showing with my second child!!! Seriously, I didn't show with my first one until 5 months, but with my second one I was into maternity jeans at 2 mos. I am only 4' 11", so that may have been part of it. I just think your uterus has already been stretched from the first pregnancy, so it stretches easier with following pregnancies. Congratulations and good luck!

Well, I believe I was showing around 8 weeks, I had twins tho and by the time I was 5 months I was HUGE, I looked like I was 8 months instead of 5 months hehe. Anyways, it's nothing to worry about the second pregnancy shows a lot earlier than the first, so don't stress over it. (And I didn't show at all until I was 6 months for the first pregnancy, went from flat tummy to big huge bump overnight lol)

It all varies. It depends on your size. Typically you start showing earlier than with your first, but everyone is different - a lot of it does depend on your body type. Typically by about 12 weeks gestation you are showing at least a little bit - some more than others.

First of all congratulations!!! Keep in mind that everyone is different. I think personally it depends on how in shape your body is as well, I have 3 and I did start showing sooner with the 2nd and I did get my biggest with the 2nd. Just try to keep doing your exercise routine if you have one and if your like me and don't have one, try to get into one. Walking was the best thing for me. Trust me just because you are showing already does not predict how big your belly is going to get. I started showing early with my 3rd but leveled off for like the next 3 months and ended up being smaller at the end than I was with my 2nd.
Once again, Congratulations and Good Luck!!

Seems it was closer to 3 months. With my 1st I had no clue I was even pregnant. I didn't miss any periods (had them monthly throughout the whole pregnancy) and didn't get sick. So I was about 4 months along before I even knew, talk about shocked!! Then it was a around 6 months it seemed I exploded. But with #2 it was closer to 3 months & I worried I was pregnant with twins, but I wasn't. And with the rest of my pregnancies I showed around that same time, 3 months or so.
Congrats BTW, babies are wonderful!! My baby will be 10yo on the 16th of this month, does NOT seem possible. Of course, doesn't seem possible I turned 49 today either...how does that happen?

C., I also have two children 5 years apart. With my second, I also started pooching at 5 weeks. It wasn't a huge, noticeable difference, but it was there. I was told by my doctor that it was because my abdominal muscles were already prepared to handle the size of the baby. I grew much slower (tummy-wise) the second time. From other friends, same thing happened after the first pregnancy. If you waited five years, then I hope you are as excited as we were. Congratulations!

If this is your second child then you should know better than to guage yourself by others....With my first I was wearing regular clothes to the delivery room. With the second, I didn't start showing until 7 1/2 months

Most of my friends (and me, too!) started showing earlier with our second pregnancy. I didn't show until 5 months with my first pregnancy, but felt like I showed REALLY early with my second (can't remember exactly how many weeks I was, but I'm pretty sure it was in my first trimester!). Congrats!

After my first, I started showing around 8 weeks. When you get pregnant, all pooch that you have and normally suck/hold in a little (especially what we get from our previous pregnancies), can't be sucked/held in anymore. That's why we start "showing" earlier with 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc pregnancies. The baby itself isn't bigger, but there's also a little more "womb room" in there after the 1st. I was showing in NO time with #4.

I started "showing" (in my mind anyway) by about 9 or 10 weeks with baby #2. Now I'm 7 Weeks along with baby #3 and it is already uncomfortable to wear my regular jeans, only my low rise ones will work now.

I am 24 weeks pregnant with my second child... I started showing earlier than I thought I would, maybe around 10 to 15 weeks, if that. I am sorry that I cannot provide a more accurate time line but I wanted to give you what I knew. Now, I am not sure if it makes a difference or not, but I have gained very little weight for this pregnancy, so I am just about all baby...

The "showing" thing is all about muscle tone. The more lax your abdominal muscles are the faster you usually show. The muscle that divides your tummy in half, I think it is the abdominus rectis muscle, will spread during pregnancy and if it isn't exercised and brought back to shape post-partum, it will contribute to how fast you may show. I have noticed that I tend to show earlier since my 1st was born, but when changes with each pregnancy. I am pregnant with #5 right now and even though this baby feels bigger than my last, I didn't show as early. Good Luck !!
