Just wondering if anyone knows of any seat covers you can use with car seats? My kids are destroying my backseat and I want to cover it up before it gets worse, but can't find anything that is designed to work with the LATCH system of the carseats, If you know of anything please let me know. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I just bought a comforter for a bed and cut holes for the headrests and seatbelts spots. It works awesome and plus if it gets dirty you can take it off and throw it in the wash. It covers the whole back seat and if it's big enough it covers part of the floor too!! Good luck. Kids can definetly be messy:)

Unless the carseat manual specifily says that you can, then you can't. Most of the manuals will say you can use a thin towel but that's it. If you use anything with your carseat that doesn't come with it then, it will void your warranty.

We had some mats that we got at Target, I think, that were especially designed for this, incl. cut-outs for latch. However....when we went to a car seat installation inspection at the fire station, they totally recommended against them and anything like it because it is after-market and may make the car seat not function as designed should the vehicle ever be in a crash. I am sure the same is true for any other item that you could put under the seats. Given the choice, I would rather have the car seat work right.....

Thought you would want to know : )

Hi L.,
What about an old towel or spare crib blanket?

No need to cut holes.

You can always check the large collection of car seat covers at Amazon. The cheap ones run around $19.99.

I bought covers that are designed to protect your car's seats from the kid's car seats. I know Eddie Bauer and Munchkin both make a version. In the One Step Ahead catalog, I have seen a bench seat version that covers the entire seat instead of just the area where the car seat is. Since they are designed with car seats in mind, they work with the LATCH system. I bought mine at Target and have seen them at Wal Mart also.

I got a really nice one from One Step Ahead/ Leaps and Bounds. www.onestepahead.com We have a small SUV and it covers the WHOLE seat and has pockets. It has holes for the latch system and seat belts. The only thing that doesn't really work for is our middle seat belt, but we can't use that with two car seats back there anyways. I also bought some things that go on the backs of the driver and front passenger seats to protect those when they kick those or their feet rub. I got those at Babies R Us but I'm not as happy with how they attach. They work though! Good luck! I looked at a lot of them and couldn't really find any that really covered the seat. They only extended past the car seat a little bit and anybody that's been in a car with kid and a sippy cup knows that the cup's going to leak way past the tiny little inch or so the seat protector covered.

Hope you find what fits.

Wishing you a joyful day.

We had the same issue with our kids! What we did is get a waterproof mattress cover for a double bed and a sheet (because the pad by istself was ugly) and cut holes where needed for the latch system, seat belts and headrest posts. It has really saved our seats and it can be removed and washed when it gets gross!
