My daughter who screams all the time. She has been doing it for quit some time (pretty much since she turned 1) I've tried everything to get her to stop, like ignoring her, asking her to stop, different ways of punishing her. She doesn't just do it when she is upset and not getting her way. Sometimes she does it for no reason, just out of the blue. She will scream so loud sometimes that she covers her own ears. I have a 5 month old little girl too, so it causes a lot of problems, because she wakes her up from naps, and sometimess I'm afraid she will hurt the baby's ears.

My son used to that when he was 3. Now he is 5 but what I used to do was screaming with him and he find it so funny that I was doing the same thing at him that eventually he stop doing it because he didn't have the attention or the desperation on shush him anymore.

Hi, my 2 year old seems to be doing that at times. But what i'm finding out is that it's a tough time for them because they are trying to talk and it can be frustrating when they don't know the words to say. I always tell me daughter to stop screaming and try to tell me what she wants. Plus, they are usually getting their molars at 2 years and this can be painful. Remember-terrible twos! Anything can happen! It will change, believe me.

aww, I wish I were closer..I am also looking basically for the same thing you are , which is finding other mothers to become friends with and maybe relate to the things I have been through as a mother..Ican only imagine how hard it must be going through this screaming bit....I hope its just a stage and she will get out of it soon ..my son did it for some time and it lasted for alittle while but stopped gradually...he STILL throws his little fits once in a while

My situation is maybe not quite the same, but I too have an almost two year old who has tantrums. I have found that the best way to deal with his screaming is to set him in his room whenever he starts screaming. Once he has stopped and settles down I let him out. Not to say that this works all the time, but it has helped in some measures.

It sounds like your son might have a sensory problem. Sensory Integrative Dysfunction is fairly common. Basically, a child can be over or under stimulated, and they end up acting out as a result. Constant screaming certainly sounds to me like OVER stimulation. You might want to have your child's doctor check him out, and discussvarious sensory disorders as a possibility. If you catch it early enough, it's fairly easy to correct, but the later it is discovered, the more difficult the process.

I wish you luck.

If she screams unprovoked I would take her to the doctor & have her checked out. There are a number of things that could be wrong & only the doctor can tell you for sure.Especially since she isn't responding to your attempts to stop it.It could be ear infection or something along those lines. Best of luck & keep us updated!

Hmmm... I'd maybe get her checked for tourets or some other kind of disorder. If she's covering her own ears, it sounds like she doesn't like it, but it's something she cannot control.
