I have just found out that I am pregnant, I have an appointment scheduled next month with Dr Kagan at Dupage Medical group in Naperville to ultimately deliver the baby at Edward Hospital. Does any mom have any feedback about the practice and the doctors as well as the level of care at Edward Hospital. I have the choice between delivering at Edward or Provena St Joseph. Any advice and feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thank you to all of you moms who gave their feedback about the doctors and Edward hospital. I had my first appointment with Dr Kagan today and it went very well, he was very nice, courteous, patient and actually had time to all my questions. I will be sticking with these doctors and deliver at Edward hospital.
Thanks again for all your responses.

Hi Y.,
I know you have many responses about the hospital - GREAT! I have been a client of DuPage Medical Group for many years. All the dr.s are great. I had Kagan deliver my 3rd child and Dr. Frangella deliver my 4th. Dr Martin is great too and my absolute favorite is Dr. Weeks (awesome bedside manner and personality). I think you will find no matter who delivers you, you'll probably like all the doctors. I choose my annual visit with Weeks because of his personality. Good luck and congratulations!

I don't have much advise but I was hospitalized at Edwards when I was pregnant with my daughter for early labor that needed to be stoped and EVERYONE was so wonderful on the mother baby floor. I would have delivered there except i was induced and my doctor was on staff at a different hospital. I don't know anything about the gynecologists group. Hope this helps

The practice is great. You'll rotate through all of the doctors in the group during your pregnancy for the checkups because the doctor from the group on duty at the hospital the day of your delivery will deliver the baby. All very professional. Sorry I can't help you out with Edwards since they also are affiliated with CDH which is where I went. Good luck!!

I delivered at Edward's three months ago. I was overly impressed with all of the doctors, staff, and especially the nurses. I could not believe how wonderful the nurses were in making it a smooth delivery experience. I would highly recommend it.

Since hospitals are becoming more competitive (it's a big$$$ business!), most offer free tours of the Labor/Delivery and Mother-Baby Units during your pregnancy. Call and schedule your tour with both before making your choice. That's what I did.

My OB/Gyn is also in Naperville, the office of Badowski, Druzak and Jensen. They delivered my little girl at Edwards, and Edwards took great care of me. I'm not a fan of hospitals, and I was quite impressed with the care I received and that my baby received. Good luck.

Congrats on your pregnancy. I have delivered at 3 hospitals (CDH, Good Sam, and Edwards). I loved CDH and Edwards and HATED Good Sam. My daughter was delivered by Dr. Kagan in February. He's great! All of the doctors there are great. It is a big practice so you never know who will deliver you but the hospital is great and so are the nurses. I think you will be very happy with them. My first was delievered by Dr. Heimburger (same office as Kagan) and I loved him also. Good luck to you, I'm clickable if you have any questions.

Hi Y.:
I am just giving you my experience with Edwards and you can utilize it in your decision. I usually have to go to Rush Copley due to insurance. However, I had an emergency with my six month old that required an emergency to the closes hospital. The hospital stay was a nightmare. My daughter was in intensive care. They put her in this big bed and caged her in and she was hooked to a number of monitors. My daughter was very scared and I asked for a rocking chair to sit near the monitors and cuddle with her. They told me they do not do rocking chairs anymore. So I spent the whole night standing by the monitors holding my daughter rocking her back and forth. I was so glad when they transfered her to Rush Copley. Anyway, you need to make the decision but if a hospital can't have something as simple as a rocking chair to sit and cuddle with your sick child then it is not a hospital I want my kids in. Best of luck! Signed, Another Mom just wanting the best care for her kids.

I don't know anything about Dupage Medical Group Gynes, but, I agree with the previous people about how great Edwards is! I was there too on bed rest for 2 weeks and every single nurse was great. I too went to Badowski, Druzak and Jensen and also saw Dr Taylor and Dr Moran (high risk) and they helped me get to 31 weeks. I was so lucky to deliver a healthy baby boy, 3lbs, 6oz. He stayed at Edwards NICU for 7 weeks and is now 7 months old and doing so well! Cannot say enough about the great Drs and nurses at Edwards....amazingly all of them!
Take care and good luck to you.

I can't give you any opinion on DuPage Medical Group. However, I delivered both my daughters at Edward (3 years ago & 3 months ago). Both pregnancies were high risk and made it full term. The 1st one ended in some extreme hemmoraging (sp?) and I ended up getting 3 units of blood back. Because of complications with the 1st delivery, we chose to have the 2nd via c-section. It went very smoothly. For both deliveries, my labor/delivery nurses were great and I liked most of my post-partum nurses! I loved the experience both times and would highly recommend Edward!!!! Good luck!

I delivered at Edwards. Not with that group though. I loved Edwards. The larbor and delivery nurses were awesome! Even though I was induced, which I really didn't want, I was really happy with my experience.

I am with the Dupage Medical Group too. Dr. Kagan was my first doctor, but ulitmately he did not deliver. It is a group of 4 or 5 doctors, if I remember correctly. I liked all the doctors, because there are so many, i did not feel really good about one. I, however, LOVED Edwards Hospital! The nurses were FANTASTIC! And since you have children already, you know the nurses do most of the work! All of the rooms are singles, there is no chance to end up sharing a room. The attention I got after was great too. I love Edwards all the way around. They have a Pediatric ER that I wish I never had to use, but since I did, I couldn't have been happier. Hope this helps.

Yasmine,
First of all congratulations on you new pregnancy! I deliveered my son at Edward Hospital three years ago,and all I can say is they are the best. The facility is state of the art, and the nurses make you feel as if you are the only one there. I am an adoption professional, and honestly can say I have visited every hospital nursery in the Chicagoland area including all the suburbs, and I can say without a doubt that you will not find any better than Edward Hospital. Good luck!

Congratulations! Both my boys were born at Edward Hospital. They were great. I have nothing negative to say about them. Staff were very courteous, understanding, professional and friendly. I think you will be very happy if you choose Edward. When I found out I was pregnant with my eldest, my sister (who is with this group) recommended DuPage. I wasn't very happy with my OB/GYNE group at the time. I was glad that I switched to DuPage Medical group. I have been very happy with them. Everyone is very professional, friendly and caring. Got to meet most of the OB/GYNE's through my prenatal visits and every single one of them was great! My favorite is Dr. Kagan, but they all are very nice. I hope this helps. Good luck and Congrats again!

I also delivered at Edward's and it was wonderful. The nurses are SO nice and I think my second day at the hospital a massage therapist was going around giving free massages to the new mommies. Great experience and will be going back when we are ready to have more children. Good luck and Congrats on the exciting news!

Hi Y.,
I delivered my first daughter at Edward Hospital and it was great! The nurses are wonderful - I had such a kind and gentle delivery nurse. I would highly recommend Edward Hospital. They also have a great "big sibling" prep class that I took my older daughter to before my second daughter was born and it really helped. They showed her the floor where Mommy would be staying and the nursery where her baby sister would be. I don't have any feedback on Dr. Kagan...my doctors are Western Dupage OB/GYN also in Naperville - they are excellent! Best of luck to you and congratulations!

I delivered two of my three girls at Edwards. They were fantastic. I had to have a neonatalogist check the girls after their births because of heavy merconium staining. It's fantastic to have the experts right there if you need them.
I also experienced some post-birth problems with my third and Edwards' nurses and staff did all the coordinating between the insurance and different physicians. They all visited me in my room and made me feel like I was cared for.
I can't say enough good things about Edwards. Good Luck!

I delivered my son at Edwards....I have all positive to say...I would recommend it.. I had gone to visit my friend who delivered recently at "rush Copley" & you could know the difference...Rush was so disorganized, not clean.....
They will give you a tour (free) ,so that it becomes easier for you to decide..
Goodluck & wish you safe labor & delivery..

Hi! I am a labor doula, and I have had two clients at Edwards now, and we had great experiences there. The staff was great and very nice. I was so pleased and so were my clients. Congratulations on your pregnancy.
We delivered both of our children at Edwards, the first experience was good but I was overwhelmed with the entire first child thing and the bed I was in was broken. My second experience was much better and I really enjoyed my experience. I went to Dr. Pourtabib, Naperville Ob/Gyn for both kids and I really like his whole manner. Good luck no matter where you go!

Hi Y.. Congratulations!!! I'm C., and I have been a client of the DuPage Medical Group for over 30 years now. They are a good group of physicians, and I've never had any trouble. My daughter, now 21, is also using one of the physicians at this practice. As we live in Wheaton, we tend to use the Wheaton or Bloomingdale offices, but I'm sure the Edwards location is just fine.

A friend of my mother's has worked at CDH for many years. She told my mother that many of the nurses use Dupage Medical Group for their prenatal care. They are very good Dr.
I used them for 5 months of my prenatal care until I decided I wanted a midwife. They were very nice, helpful and informative.

Hi Y.,
I used Dupage Medical Group. All the doctors are fine but the problem is you will have no idea who will deliver your baby, it's whoever is on call that night. So we met with a new doctor at each of my prenatal visits so I least I would have met that at least once. Dr. Frangella ended up delivering my baby and I loved her because she is a younger, female doctor so we had a lot in common. Regardless, I had a very easy pregnancy and I never really had any questions so I really only spent about 5 minutes at each of my visits. I'm looking forward to having a homebirth for my next baby! Good luck!

I have delivered both of my childern at Edward's hospital. One by emergency c-section and one by scheduled c-section. I also have multiple friends that have delivered at Edwards. The staff of nurses they have are awesome-so sweet and helpful. They give you a massage everyday you are there and the good is great you order right off a menu when you are hungry not when they decide. I was in a birthining room for awhile with my first baby and the room was great there was a tub and everything. I cant think of a better place to bring a child into the world. I dont know about the dupage medical group but if it doesnt work out look into Dr. Michael Feingold-his personality is a little dry but he is a great dr. I have recommended him to multiple people and he delivered my friends two kids.

I don't know about your doctor, but I delivered both of my boys at Edwards. The first in '01 and the second in '03 and I can NOT say enough good things about that hospital. They are just really good, and they have a level III NICU IF you needed it which is always something good to have in that rare event.
I have never really heard anyone say anything bad about Edwards.. but I have heard people who had to change hospitals for later deliveries and they were not as happy going elsewhere...

Hello, I worked with both groups and found them to be wonderful. I actually worked with the OB/Gyn's at the Dupage Health Specialists off of Ogden Ave in Naperville and they were great in respecting my wishes. Edward Hospital was also great in sticking to my birth plan and were very respectful. I had a great experience, but I know it also helped to have the prenatal classes and Doula there with me. What birthing method are you using? Let me know if you have more questions, I am also a certified birth instructor out of Bolingbrook.
