rubbing alcohol will take it off, but it will also take off paint. You may have to use Kills (primer) when you repaint or it will bleed through.

Help! My son drew all over our walls with black permanent markers that my husband left laying around. Anyone have any solutions for removing this w/out removing all the paint too? TIA

Try doing a Google search. I just removed permanent Sharpie all over our kitchen table using toothpaste ... got that tip after doing a quick search online. Perhaps toothpaste would also work on walls? It was amazing on our wood table ... didn't remove the finish at all.
Mr Clean Magic eraser has been known to work wonders
I don't know about walls, but I was told to use shaving cream on markers and I have used it and it works. (even on your kids). Try a small spot first. If you have latex paint on your walls it might take some of the paint off.
The Mr Clean Magic Eraser works great for getting marker off the wall.
Both rubbing alcohol and acetone polish remover have worked for me in the past. Do it as quickly as possible, but be careful about how much rubbing you do as the paint will start to come off if you rub for too long in one spot. You can feel the texture of the paint start to change so stop when you feel it change and move to a different area until it dries. Hope this helps!
Try SOL-U-MEL. It’s a natural product that gets EVERYTHING out. It even took out permanent marker from our couch upholstery.
I have used both hairspray (aquanet) and a magic eraser to get sharpie off of my walls and chairs. It worked well.
HAve you tried Mr Clean magic Eraser.
do you have some touch up paint?
magic eraser works wonders, so do diaper wipes
Do you know of anyone who uses Melaleuca products? If so, ask them if you can buy their bottle of Sol U Mel (almost every Melaleuca user has it on hand because it's awesome!) Used at full strength will take out permanent marker. I know this because I tested it when I first started using it. I've also gotten out blood, ink, tar, grease, and grass stain with it.
Here's what worked for me a long time ago, on good quality gloss-finish paint: Avon Skin-so-Soft bath oil, with a very light rubbing from a steel wool (brillo) pad at the very end when elbow grease din't make any more progress. However, if it is flat finish paint, the paint may come off as well, but that would be true for any cleaning remedy.
Good luck
