Hi Moms, does anyone know if you can re-freeze bread? We had my daughter's 3rd birthday party last night and have a bunch of small sandwich rolls leftover. We have already frozen them once prior to the party. I don't think we can eat this much bread before it goes stale.

Yes you can - you cannot re-freeze raw meat. Bread is good in your freezer for up to 2 months. See mom - my home ec degree is going to use!

Cut it up for croutons and dry them out in the oven tossed in a few drops of olive oil, garlic salt, onion powder salt, & pepper, parmesan cheese. Cool them down and then freeze.
go ahead. we take our bread out of the freezer into the frig, back into the freezer, back into the frig...
I wouldn't. I've never had good luck re-freezing much of anything.
Any time you have left over bread, you can make a delicious Stuffed French Toast. My cousin makes the following recipe with whatever she has left over in the way of bread or buns. If you don't like honey you can substitute maple syrup in the recipe.
Sally Jessy Raphaels Stuffed French Toast
1 Loaf bread; cubed
1/3 c Honey
8 lg Eggs
1 1/3 c Milk
8 oz Cream cheese; softened
Instructions for Sally Jessy Raphaels Stuffed French Toast:
Mix eggs, honey and milk; set aside. In a 9x13" greased pan, evenly layer 1/2 of the bread cubes, then cheese, and top with the rest of the bread cubes. Pour egg mixture over bread, cover, and leave in refrigerator overnight. Bake at 350F for 35-40 minutes, or until browned and set. Serve with syrup.
We freeze and refreeze bread all the time. Just be sure it's sealed well and use it within a couple of weeks.
sure, re-freeze it! You may not want to use it for sandwiches again, because it may not be "soft and fresh" but you can certainly use it for other things like breadcrumbs, or make garlic rolls (season some butter and spread it on the frozen rolls and bake until brown - its great with pasta!), or cut it up and use it for stuffing next time you make a turkey.
Yes. You can re-freeze the bread. The other option is to make croutons from the left over rolls. Cut in cubes and toss with olive oil and herbs and spread on baking sheet and bake til crisp. Or you can use food processor to make bread crumbs from them for later use in meatballs or on top of a casserole etc.
I used to be a professional baker and it's not good to REfreeze bread once it was thawed and at room temperature. I don't think it will even taste that good either. I would just be on the safe side and only thaw what you need. Hope this helps!
L., You can refreeze the bread it just wont be that fresh, it will be alittle harder. But what we do is put it in the microwave (without the bag of course) for a couple sec's at a time. This will make it softer. Or you can make garlic bread out of it or other things. Good luck to you.
L., I don't know if you can refreeze them but what I do is grind them up with oregano and make bread crumbs or cut them up and coat them with garlic seasonings and broil them into croutons for salad.
Yes, you can. You can also make croutons out of them too!
I would say NO... Do not refreeze.

L., I don't think I would. If you froze them once before I don't think they would taste that great the second time around. Try it. See how they are after.
